Certificate Course on “Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Green GDP”
PROGRESS REPORT
Certificate Course on “Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Green GDP”
Under Green Skill Development Program (GSDP)
Organized by ENVIS RP, EPTRI
Sponsored by EI‐Division, MoEF&CC, Government of India
Duration 14th to 29th February, 2019‐2020
Venue EPTRI, Hyderabad
The Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India, for the first
time, has taken up an initiative for the Skill Development in the Environment and Forest sector to enable
unemployed youth to get gainful employment. This programme endeavours to impart Green Skilled
working skill to candidates having minimum technical Knowledge and aptitude in the respective field
which contributes to the Sustainable Development.
There is a shortage of skilled persons in the nation for Accounting of Ecosystem Services and Green GDP.
Recognizing the need, the EI Division, MoEFCC has initiated a Certificate Course on “Valuation of
Ecosystem Services and Green GDP” under Green Skill Development Programme to ENVIS RP, EPTRI. The
target group for this course is graduates in Life Sciences. Therefore, this certificate course would serve as
a source of employment in Forest Departments, Research, Accounting for Natural Resources, etc as there
is a huge demand of skilled graduates to value the ecosystem in terms of monetary.
A total of 16 participants (List enclosed as Annexure I with attendance sheet) have undergone training
under Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) on “Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Green
GDP”. Among them 8 each were female and male candidates. The participants belonged to different
castes such as 2‐Gen, 9‐BC, 2‐SC and ST‐3. The students were imparted theory and practical knowledge
by conducting field studies. There were taken to field inside the EPTRI premises for carbon
sequestration, quadrate sampling, Microbiology lab setup etc.
Introduction
The students were selected through selection committee in the Walk‐in‐interview as per the GSDP
guidelines. The selection committee comprised of Dr. V. Srinivas Rao, Center for Natural Resource
Management, National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Rajendarnagar, Hyderabad,
Dr. M. Suneela, ENVIS Coordinator, EPTRI and Dr. K. Jyothi, EB Expert.
The selected candidates and waiting list candidates were intimated through mail and phone calls. The
course started as per the programme schedule.
The students selected were given ID card, Bag, Long Note Book, Study material and Stationary. The
programme schedule along with Resource person of this training course is placed at Annexure -II.
