CHILDCARE FROM THE 1600’sA child from 1600’s. 1600’s children’s home.
Childcare from 1800’sWe have all seen this picture. We are told of the poor conditions, yet all these children would have died if not for work houses.
Children were not just grouped like this, most were used on farms as labour or house servants and some did work in the community to pay for their up keep.
Childcare in the 1940’sChildren were labelled, given small personal packages as well as any clothing that fitted into one suitcase and moved out of the cities for their safety.
Thousands of Children were sent away from their own homes to live with other family’s. All done to keep them safe during the war.
