11 IINNTTRROODDUUCCTTIIOONN 1.1 Needs A photogrammetric measurement has been requested by Teresa RODRIGO and done on the Z- face of the Yoke Endcap YE+1 once the CSC Chambers and alignment system were installed. The goal of this measurement is to provide the 3D coordinates of the survey targets of all the devices installed on the Encap and in the Encap system. The measurement has been done on:

• The YE+1 reference points: the posts. • The welded points and coded points on the green structure. • The CSC chambers reference points. • The additional coded or no-coded targets • The alignment system devices reference points

1.2 Measurements The measurement took place in SX5 on the 21st of June 2006 and on the 4th of July 2006. The average RMS (one sigma) achieved for XYZ co-ordinates. This is the precision of the 3D coordinates measured at the centre of the survey target in the reference system.

Accuracy of the measurement RMS (XYZ): 0.3 mm All calculated 3D coordinates given correspond to the centre of the survey targets.

22 CCOOOORRDDIINNAATTEESS SSYYSSTTEEMM 2.1 Coordinate system The calculation has been done in the CMS system fixing given by the photogrammetry of the Yoke Endcap YE+1, made on the reference holes on the posts. For further details, please see the reports on EDMS: CMS-HE-UR-0013 version2 and CMS-SG-UR-0015.

Figure 1. Face view of the YE+1 Z- face

2.2 Calculation of 3D coordinates The coordinates have been calculated by a least square adjustment without constraints. The calculated coordinates have been transformed in the YE+1 CMS system by using a least square calculation adjustment without deformation.

All calculated coordinates are given as the centre of the survey targets.

33 PPOOIINNTT NNUUMMBBEERRIINNGG AANNDD AADDAAPPTTEERR 3.1 Point numbering on the CSC chambers Measured points on CSC chambers and numbering

• A first one is a coded and permanent target. A code corresponds to a CSC chamber.

• Two other targets which are not coded but removable (button target). They equipped the reference holes of the CSC chamber. For a chamber called ME+1/X/YY, the two reference points are named YEP1_1XYY1 or YEP1_1XYY2, with 1 if the point is towards the centre of YE+1 and 2 in the other case.

X corresponds to the layer : 1 for inner and 2 for outer. YY corresponds to the number of the chamber: from 1 to 36 for inner, from 1 to 36 for outer. For example, the two reference points of the chamber ME+1/3/12 are named YEP1_13121 and YEP1_13122.

The reference holes present a 6 mm diameter and there are not enough 6 mm pin targets to equip all points. That is why we also used an 8 mm diameter pin target with a 6 mm pin adapter: the offset of these targets values 3 mm and those of the adapters is 20 mm.

The transfer plates ME+1 have been calibrated at CERN on February 2006. The targets used for the calibration and for this measurement are the same. Please, see the report on EDMS CMS-ME-UR-0004. All the transfer plates have been equipped by David EARTLY. Points named from YEP1_XX01 to YEP1_XX03: 90 degrees target All the points, named from YEP1_1101 to YEP1_1103, from YEP1_1301 to YEP1_1303, from YEP1_1301 to YEP1_1303, from YEP1_1401 to YEP1_1403, from YEP1_1501 to YEP1_1503, and from YEP1_1601 to YEP1_1603, are measured with 90 degrees targets glued in the corresponding reference hole. There is no offset on the measurement of point with this sort of target.

the target

Targets used for ME11 transfer plates On each transfer plate, reference holes named “PG target X” with X valuing 1, 5, and 7 have been equipped with a button photogrammetric target presenting a 3 mm offset from the contact surface. And the other reference holes, named “PG target Y” with Y valuing 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 have been equipped with a 90 degrees photogrammetric target presenting a 15 mm offset with respect to the contact surface.
