The First Target Application
Servo ModuleControls the turbine speed by manipulating main steam control valves.
Yokogawa’s turbomachinery I/O modules were developed to meet the need for high speed (5-10 msec) control suitable for Steam Turbine Control.
High Speed Protection ModuleProtect turbine against over-speed conditions by controlling main steam stop valves.
For “gas” turlkjdfgDSine control, a thermo I/O module is required which is to be developed in the future.

Other On-Site Tests in China
On-site evaluation test at a plant in China started in July 2008. (In progress)Approaching a turbine manufacturer who does not have its own turbine control system.Approaching Shanghai Electric (SEC) who controls their boilers by Yokogawa DCS for on-site test.Promoting to Dong Fang Electric for market penetration.
The results are not known Yet.

How to Convince Customers?
Win an endorsement.
– Verification from WGTCS
Show capability in hydraulic system control
– Partnership with WGTCS.
Show performances.
– Installation Record – NuCoastal, USA (by WGTCS)
– Field Tests at SKODA (1-MW test turbine) and Others Need to establish good reputation.

Where are Yokogawa Customers?
End users whose turbine control systems are in the scope of supply of I&C vendors.– e.g. China, South Africa
Customers who prefer to have both turbine control system and DCS are supplied by the same vendor.– Captive Power in the Oil & Petrochemical Plants, etc.
Turbine manufacturers who do not have their own turbine control systems and prefer to collaborate with I&C vendors. (e.g. Alstom, Skoda, etc.) – Turbine manufacturers find it difficult to catch up with the latest
technologies by their own and seek for alliances with I&C vendors.
Retrofit (Replacement of existing systems)– Where Yokogawa has delivered DCS (and other) systems and the
user is confident about Yokogawa’s capability and products.
I&C Vendor = Instrumentation and Control Vendor

Applicable Markets
Power Industries– Applicable to Steam Turbine Control– YEI Power Group (Mr K. Kawabe) takes
initiatives
Other Applications (future plans)– Rotating machines and vibrating equipments
(e.g. compressors)• Need specialists & know-how of applications to
penetrate into markets
– Gas Turbine Controller• Need to develop “Temperature” Turbo I/O module.• Inevitable to obtain SIL3 Certification
These applications are still in study stage.
Need experts’ support!

Page 81
SIL3 Certification
Some customers require SIL3 Certification for protection modules to shut down turbines safely. This is not mandatory, however, more and more customers prefer to have SIL3 nowadays.(e.g. Europe, Middle East, Africa, Australia prefer to have SIL3. USA, Japan, Asia and China are less strict.)
Governor Control in the turbine control does not require SIL3 certification, thus Yokogawa’s turbomachinery I/O can be applied as they are. Yokogawa will apply for SIL3 certification in SIL3 certification in the futurethe future, but it is not known when to be certified.

The HIS of CENTUM VP and that of CS 3000 R3 can operate the FCSs of each other.
The ENG of CENTUM VP can handle all the CS 3000 components– HISs, FCSs, BCVs, ACGs, GSGWs, and SIOSs – ENG must be CENTUM VP for coexistence of CS 3000 and
CENTUM VP• Online maintenance of the CS3000 R3 FCS can be possible
from CENTUM VP ENG– CENTUM CS 3000 R2 needs to be upgraded to CENTUM VP.
• Two version support policy (Not tested)• Migration is possible (off-line).

Small-Scale System Migration (1)
Order Termination of CENTUM CS 1000 is in sight!(Scheduled in January 2009)
CENTUM VP Entry Class• Up to 8000 Tags• Connecting 256 stations • KeyCode Making Fee and Project License Fee are needed.• Enhance functions & expandability.
CENTUM VP• Up to 100,000 Tags
(Up to one million Tags by option)• Price differences between the
software licenses of CS 1000 and CENTUM VP are charged.

When system capacity increases, it is easy to change the system into redundant V net configuration.– Although AFF50S hardware specifications support only redundant V net,
AFF50S can support single V net configuration through just builder definition.
