TheADVENTURER
As a Venturer, you are supposed to have fun and work on advancement. Also, you’re to recruit either as a unit or as an individual. As an individual, you can go out and recruit or spread the excitement by word of mouth. You would be surprised with how much word of mouth would get someone interested in Venturing. Another way to recruit is by carrying around some type of Venturing material with you and explain the fun you have in the program. Holding conversations with people and keeping them interested will make their mind up for them. Peer to peer recruiting is the method to this madness. Also, a great way for getting people to join your crew is by bringing them to a meeting or a fun event with your crew. Or, you can get their number and invite them to JOIN YOUR WONDERFUL CREW! Get them involved somehow into your crew to keep you membership increasing. Lastly, remember it’s everyone’s duty to recruit new members, so go out and RECRUIT, RECRUIT, RECRUIT! And of course, HAVE FUN!

How do I find new Venture Scouts?
Look for high school and early college
students who like adventure, service to
others or both. Don’t limit yourself
only to young men. Venturing is co-ed.
When older scouts or any male and
female community members ages 14-20
see what your crew is doing (and you
will want to be visible) they will ask
you how they can join. Visibility?
Sure, when you talk about all the fun
adventures you’ve been doing, when
you wear that green uniform shirt that
starts so many conversations, when
you are advertising your adventures
through your Charter Organization,
people are going to want to know,
what’s up? What are you doing? Can I
join? There is always the old fashioned
approach to asking your friends to join.
When you post on Facebook, send a
Tweet or write your blog about what
you are doing in Venturing, you are
recruiting. Your job is to do, and the
recruits will follow.

What makes high adventure more fun? High adventure with your friends. Venturing offers some amazing experiences, so why wouldn’t you want to share those experiences with your friends? This brings us to the goal of this article: how to recruit. The best way to get people to join Venturing is by having Venturers talk to their friends. I joined Venturing because my friends from Boy Scouts were in it and I am sure those of you reading this can think of a friend that either told you about Venturing or got you to join. I am writing this article to convince you to be that friend to someone else. Venturing does some pretty awesome stuff. Why not share that with someone? Recruiting is simple. Just casually talk about what you did over the weekend. I’m sure you’ll have some incredible stories to get people interested. You know as much as I do that someone will be a lot more interested if one o of their friends talks to the about joining Venturing t than some stranger or a adult. So get out there and r recruit! It will be easier t than you think.
