The Arbitration Court was founded in 1949 and was operat-ing attached to the Czechoslovak Chamber of Commerce. Its name was changed by the Act No. 42 of 1980 Coll., to the Arbitration Court attached to the Czechoslo-vak Chamber of Commerce and Industry and, pursuant to the Act No. 223 of 1994, Coll., the last change, for the time being, of its name has been made, viz. to the Arbitration Court attached to the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic and Agricultural Cham-ber of the Czech Republic. In the course of its long-term existence of the Arbitration Court, more than 10 000 disputes, the majority being from international trade, were decided by the arbitra-tors. In the last two years, stage by stage, a growing number of arbi-tration proceedings is being taken in domestic disputes as well. In 2005 the Czech Arbitration Court attached to the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic and Agricultural Chamber of the Czech Republic was appointed to provide an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) for .eu domain name disputes for all the coun-tries of the European Union. These proceedings are adminis-tered in all languages of the EU (except for Maltese).In 2008, the ICANN association authorised the Arbitration Court to
decide disputes in accordance with the Common Policy of handling disputes over domain names, i.e. the domain names .aero, .asia, .biz, .cat, .com, .coop, .info, .jobs, .mobi, .museum, .name, .net, .org, .pro, .tel, and .travel.

The Association for Foreign In-vestment - AFI represents a group of renowned Czech and foreign companies which support the entry of foreign investors to the Czech market and provide a wide range of professional services, especially in consulting and legal advice. The chief aim of the Association for Foreign Investment, working to-gether with the CzechInvest Invest-ment and Business Development Agency, is not only to promote the infl ux of foreign direct investment to the Czech Republic, but also to develop the country’s business en-vironment and competitiveness.
