(across the street from Radiant) on Friday May 12th at
5:30pm. SCHOOL WILL CLOSE TO ALL STUDENTS AT
2:30pm to allow the students and staff time to get
ready for the program. Doors will open at the
church at 5:00pm. Students need to be in the gym
with their teacher at 5:15pm so that they can get
lined up for the program. Please bring a treat to
share at the reception after the program!
Muffins with Mom
We would like to invite all our Radiant moms (or
any special someone in your child’s life!) to
join us for muffins and juice when you drop
off on Friday May 12th in honor of Mother’s
Day. From 7am – 8am muffins will be
served in the Toddler room. From 8am –
9am you can eat with your child in their
classroom. Make sure to take a “selfie” with your
child while you are eating and email it to Annie
([email protected]) for our Facebook page!
Memorial Day
Radiant will be closed on Monday May 29th for Memorial Day. We hope
you have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!
Summer
You should all have received an email from Annie inquiring about your child’s
summer schedule. If your child will be having a different schedule over the
summer or will be leaving for elementary school in the fall and you have not
already communicated that to Annie, please let her know ASAP. We have a
great summer full of activities planned for all of our students! We are very
excited for the weather to warm up so we can get started on the summer fun!

Enrichment Classes
Please Note: We will be taking the summer off from Spanish and music classes starting at the
end of May. Classes will resume in September with the start of the new school year! THANK
YOU Ms. Gracie and Ms. Mary for all you have taught our children during this school year!
Spanish
Hello Parents of Radiant Montessori,
During the month of April we learned about clothing, called La Ropa. Some examples
included pantalones (pants), camisa (shirt), camiseta (t-shirt), vestido (dress), and
calcetines (socks).
We have a special guest in our classroom, a Mexican Barbie, who helped the children to
learn in a fun way about La Ropa. We learned actions/verbs (las acciones/verbos) such as
to run (correr), to sleep (dormir), to drink (beber), and also we learned about household
rooms such as sala (living room), cocina (kitchen), baño (bathroom) and recamara
(bedroom).
In May we will continue learning about household rooms, review numbers, colors, shapes and fruits.
It has been my pleasure to be the Spanish teacher for your children. Have a wonderful summer.
Sra. Gracie
Music
Ms. Mary is sending a musical message as students and staff work hard to bring you an AWESOME PROGRAM:

Our spring program's only two weeks away
Plenty of sweet songs to sing and play

Children’s House One
“The most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the
period from birth to the age of six, for that is the time when intelligence itself is
being formed and carried on throughout a lifetime.” ~ Maria Montessori
What an exciting month we've had exploring metamorphosis, botany, weather,
Africa, and insects. Spring is always a wonderful time of year to help children feel
connected with nature and to instill in them an appreciation for the amazing world
in which we live! On a side note, conferences went very well! 90% of our class
attended conferences.
This time of year it is so rewarding to see so many of the children choosing
their own work and being able to complete the activities independently ...
their confidence is truly soaring! The younger children continue to request
lessons and are now interested in making the letters on the chalkboard,
white board, or in the sand tray. A big “thank you” to everyone who
attended the Bunker Horse Stables with us! All of the volunteers were just
phenomenal!! In art the children enjoyed creating their Mother’s Day
surprise and cards. In practical life the children have been refining there
sweeping, folding, polishing, and pouring skills. It is truly a joy to see how
independent, and responsible children are in the Montessori environment!
With the end of the school year just around the corner, it is great to see how far the children have come since
the beginning of the year and how independent they have become. Several times this week, I took a step back
and just observed how the class was functioning. I couldn't help but smile as I observed children choosing their
own work, solving their own problems, cleaning up after themselves, lending a hand to those in need, reading,
writing, adding, creating maps, drawing, painting and so much more! The growth from September to now is
incredible! A child’s insatiable curiosity, infectious joy of discovery and respect for their peers and the world
around them reminds me that children are capable of so much more than we give them credit for. We
couldn't be more proud of each and every one of them!
In the upcoming month of May we are preparing for graduation, Mother's Day, challenging ourselves with
"The Bank Game" in math, learning about time, money, and Europe, and with exploring phonograms in
language.
We look forward to another busy month ahead and as always, if
anyone has questions or concerns, I welcome you to email me at
[email protected] or leave a message on the
notebook in our entry.
Thank you for your continued support!

Children’s House Two
Hello families!
Where has the past month gone? We have been so busy with
our reading, writing, and number work that time has escaped
us. We have been reading and doing lessons on the solar
system…ask your child about gravity. Ask them how many
trips around the sun they have taken. We have talked about
the life cycles of a plant and what a plant needs to survive and
grow. We started planting seeds and will be observing them
grow and making sure they are watered well. We will
continue to talk about the life cycles of creatures in nature
(many found in Minnesota, but not all). This is a great time of
year for children to observe these life cycles in our backyards or in the community. Many words that have
been discussed are hibernation, migration, camouflage and metamorphoses.
Looking forward we will continue lessons on the solar system, life
cycles, geography and we will try different art materials. I will bet
our hands will get a little dirty but we will have smiles on our faces
learning about the world around us. We will continue reading as
many books as possible to learn so much about ourselves, feelings,
facts around us and all the possibilities this great universe offers us
as we travel around the sun together. Happy Spring to everyone!

Children’s House Three
Hi Parents,
Enrichment was everywhere. I found the enrichment of children’s
vocabulary while I heard their conversations and watched their
works. Diverse chances such as Dictionary research, Show & Tell
speech, book reading, listening to story-telling, and casual
conversations with diverse age group of children nurtured not
only their social speech ability to deliver creative thoughts and the clear expression of
emotions but also exact and correct linguistic abundance in glossary.
I gave them more chances to classify and organize outer information into ordered and
systemized categories because they were at the right developmental period that was sensitive to order and
language with abundant curiosity. I also gave them more chances to work with math materials that helped
them organize scientifically, precisely, and systemically, which guided them into the world of exactness and
correctness. One significant difference in the casa from last several months was using more controlled and
willed words than yelling and physical responses. I believe that this was the result of the works.
In addition, I was so pleased to find so much enriched care and
guidance for new children from other age-groups. Concerning
their social cohesion and preparation for a social being, they grew
into good social members of a society with understanding of
others’ needs emotionally, psychologically, and socially. This
strengthened Casa 3’s social cohesion and self-confidence to care
for others and environment for themselves.
Our class had many self-care presentations and works to set good poises such as sitting
upright on a chair or the floor while they worked or ate for further concentration-required works (at least
30mins concentration) in Math and Language. Out of good poises, I believe that they can concentrate on a
work more efficiently, effectively, and longer. Furthermore, they can respect and care the materials that guide
them to build themselves with care. We will keep on working on it.
I introduced a small group of children of the Division Board, Short counting bead, and Long counting bead
work. They could refine their addition, multiplication, and division operations more clearly through the works.
And we kept on working on decimal counting with Spindle box, Number rods, and bead
works.
In Language, we had mass writing works. One significant difference was writing works
from a sentence or a word writing work to sentences or a whole book-writing in April.
On the previous Language and Math works, for kindergarteners, I will add more writing,
reading, and Math operations, especially written problem solving works.
Thanks, Mr. CS and Ms. Mara

Toddlers
Hello Toddler Families,
April was such a great month for learning! The toddlers
learned a lot about the season of spring, as well as how
plants and flowers grow, and why it’s important to care for
our planet. I think some of their favorite activities included
making bird feeders, as well as our Earth Day clean up walk and different science
experiments. The toddlers were so excited to see birds and squirrels eating the seeds off
our bird feeders! They called the squirrels silly for eating bird seed and thought that was
funny. They also did a wonderful job and were so enthusiastic about cleaning up trash along the paths behind
our school! One of their favorite science experiments was putting trash into our
“duck pond” and seeing what happened to the water. The toddlers decided it
would not make the ducks happy to have trash in their water, and so we made
sure to take out the trash and give the ducks clean water to make them happy
again at the end of our experiment.
May is going to be another great month for learning as we focus on the ever-
changing weather. Each week we will learn about different types of weather, such
as rainy days, sunny days, cloudy days, windy days, and rainbows. We have at
least one experiment planned for each week, which the toddlers will love! Our
focus this month will also be on the letters Y and Z, the numbers 9 and 10, the
color yellow, and diamonds.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me by email at
[email protected]. I can also be reached by phone or in person here at Radiant.
Thank you,
Ms. Amanda, Ms. Kari, and Ms. Isabelle

Transition Room
Happy May Parents!
We are one step closer to
summer and I am super
excited! We have one
more month until the
summer program and the
month of May's theme is
weather! We will be
talking about the sun,
rain, wind and finally
storms!
A few things for this month is if you want your child to have
their own sunscreen instead of the schools please place it
on my counter during the first week of May. We will be
starting to put sunscreen on in May so when you drop off your child at school
please make sure that you apply it beforehand. Also, if you want your child to
have either sun hats or baseball hats please make sure it's either in their cubbies
or hanging underneath their hooks with their first and last name on it please!
As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to call or email me at
[email protected]. Thanks and I hope you have a wonderful day!
