Census information is used by government, councils, iwi, businesses, and community groups to plan for the future.
It determines how billions of dollars is spent.

Statistics NZ does not share people’s private information with any other organisation – including the New Zealand Police, WINZ, Immigration New Zealand, Housing New Zealand, and Inland Revenue.

Census in your neighbourhood
A census collector delivers the forms and Internet Access Code to your home starting from 16 February 2013
The collector carries a large blue bag with the ‘Statistics New Zealand’ logo on the front
The collector will return after 6 March 2013 to collect completed paper forms

Who uses it: Statistics NZ What it is used for:•Administrative purposes – to match the household’s individual forms with the people listed on the dwelling form•To contact people selected for post-censal surveys: Te Kupenga Māori Social Survey, and the Disability Survey•If follow-up is required
