Module Two assessment format

A portfolio consisting of five assignments:

four teaching assignments

professional development assignment (two parts)

– PDA Part 1: Reflection and Action

– PDA Part 2: Experimental Practice.

Teaching assignments focus

Two systems

– Each assignment must focus on a different area of systems i.e. grammar, lexis, discourse, or phonology.

Two skills

– One assignment must be on Speaking or Writing.

– One assignment must be on Reading or Listening.

1.2000–2500 word background essay on:

research and analysis of an aspect of the system/skill, teaching/learning issues, and suggestions for teaching.

2.Preparation, teaching and evaluation of a lesson related to the background essay:

background information on the class and the lesson, a lesson plan, and a self-evaluation.

Reflection and Action2000–2500 words

four stages with varying word counts

each stage completed at a different point in the course

Stage 1 is a diagnostic lesson on which the other four stages are based

all stages focus on the teacher’s development throughout the course and on continuing professional development.
