Celebrity Character Project Overview

Benchmarks: I can identify the essentials of strong Christian character (ex.

fruit of the Spirit). I can tabulate consequences and rewards in the lives of

contemporary celebrities.

Final project: Create a visual presentation (ex. PowerPoint) that clearly

illustrates the difference between two celebrities—one who has strong character and one who doesn’t—highlighting the consequences or rewards from their decisions and comparing their lives with the attributes of Christian character.

Steps: Choose two celebrities (musicians, politicians, athletes,

religious leaders, artists, etc.). One must be someone who has good character and makes wise choices, and the other must be someone who has poor character and makes unwise choices. Try to think outside the box a bit so that we’re not all researching the same people.

Tell Ms. Hatcher which celebrities you have chosen. Begin researching your celebrities. Use the internet to find

specific examples of the celebrities’ good and bad choices and the results of their actions. Complete the Celebrity Character Rewards and Consequences Chart while you research.

Use http://www.biblegateway.com/topical/* to find out what the Bible says about the character traits that you associated with your celebrities. Fill out the Strong Christian Character Chart while you complete this portion of the assignment. *To use this search tool, scroll down the page just a bit to the section that says “Topical Index” and enter your search terms under “Search topic by keyword.” This will generate a list of Bible passages that deal with the topic, and you can search those to find ones relevant to your assignment.

Use technology to create a visual presentation in which you compare the lives of the two celebrities, highlight their character traits & the results of their choices, and compare their lives with the Bible’s description of strong Christian character. *Please see the attached checklist for more information.
