Irish Bagpipes with Pat Roniger
Join Pat Roniger, Manhattan College's
Pipe Major, on
Saturday, March 7th
as he plays the Irish Bagpipes in the
Activity Studio.
His performance will begin at 4:30 pm.
If you are an Irish-American living in Westchester, chances are you
have visited Mclean Avenue a time or two. Mclean Avenue, also
known as the Emerald Mile of Westchester, lies on the boarder of
Yonkers and the Bronx. For decades, Mclean Avenue and its
surrounding neighborhood, has been a new beginning for so many
Irish immigrants. The Emerald Mile is known for its authentic Irish
cuisine and culture, St. Barnabas School and Catholic Church, "Meet
Me on Mclean" parade, and its countless Irish pubs. This Saint
Patrick's Day, we are going to sample five craft beers from Mclean
Avenue's most popular pub- Rory Dolan's. Craft beer might not be
your cup of tea, but it is worth a try. Sláinte!!!!

ASSISTED LIVING · MEMORY CARE
March 2020
The Inn
Did you know that we have
two residents living at the
Fountains who are over 100
years old? Connie Rinaldi
(left) and Frank Marra are
both turning 102 this year.
Connie has been living at the
Fountains for almost six
years, and Frank, a little less
than a year. They are both incredible individuals with
such inspiring stories. So inspiring, that new resident,
Gloria decided to write an article about them. Gloria recently
moved into our community this past fall. She is an avid reader,
loves jazz music and enjoys traveling. Gloria spent the past month
researching and writing her article with the help of local
volunteer, Joanna Lumanas and Gloria's dear friend, Sonia Loui.
The title of her article is "Celebrating Longevity at the Fountains",
in honor of Connie and Frank. You can find her article on our
Facebook page- @The Fountains at RiverVue.
CelebratingLongevity Balance is Back
According to the National Institute on
Aging, balance fitness classes are all the
rage right now. Having good balance can
help prevent slips, trips, falls, and other
dangers that the aging population
is prone to. These classes will strengthen
ones core, increase flexibility, and
improve overall coordination.
So.... on that note, we have some
exciting news! Lifelong's occupational
therapist, Jeff Ciolino, has found us a
new balance specialist to lead our
morning balance class, beginning this
spring. The first class will be held on
Tuesday, March 3rd at 10:15 in the
Activity Studio. All of Jeff's instructors
are highly qualified balance specialist
who will guide you through the entire
program.
Path to Well-Being
Check out that beautiful smile on Joan's face from last month's New
Resident Welcome Luncheon! Joan is one of many new community members
who just joined the RiverVue family. This special luncheon has become
quite the tradition over the past few years. On the second Wednesday of
each month, our dining staff prepares a scrumptious meal for all of the
newbies- and it usually includes a juicy filet mignon and a banana split.
We also have a group of lovely resident ambassadors, who are more than
happy to join our new residents for a delicious home cooked meal. If you
are looking for ways to get more involved, no problem. Check out our
monthly newsletter and daily happenings located at the front desk for up-
to-date programming around the community.
