It has common borders with Germany, Poland, the SlovakRepublic and Austria. Climate: The prevailing continental climate is characterized by mild win-ters and warm summers. The average annual temperature is 10 °C, insummer 20 °C and in winter -5 °C.

USEFUL INFORMATIONENTRANCE TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC AND VISASThe Czech Republic is a member of the European Union. There are different rules for citizens of other EU member countries thanfor tourists from other parts of the world.EU citizensCitizens of EU member states need a passport or other ID document toenter the Czech Republic. The same is valid for citizens of Switzerland,Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, who enjoy free movement aroundthe EEA (European Economic Area).Non-EU citizensVisitors from other countries require a passport with at least six monthsvalidity on the day of arrival and in some cases a visa. A list of stateswhose citizens require a visa to enter the Czech Republic can be foundon the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.Schengen zoneThe Czech Republic entered the so-called Schengen zone in 2007. Thisgroup of countries have come together to enable people to cross theirborders without passport controls. Despite this, however, a valid passportor other ID will still have to be carried at all timesTravelling with animalsSeveral requirements must be met for travelling to and around the CzechRepublic with dogs, cats and ferrets:

• identification of the animal – a tattoo is possible or marking witha microchip; from 2 July 2011, the chip will be obligatory for dogs,cats and ferrets

• passport for special-interest breeding animals – uniform documentthroughout the whole EU

• vaccination against rabies – this is obligatory for animals from 3years of age, serological examination for rabies – this is usually per-formed by a vet together with vaccination.

Tariff quotasCustoms checks at state borders ended on the date the Czech Republicjoined the EU. Checks remained only at the outer borders of the EU. Thisis why you will only come across checks at international airports.Exemption of goods brought into the EU from customs duty, VAT and con-sumer tax relates to goods imported occasionally for personal use.Goods are exempt up to the value of EUR 300 per person. When travellingby air, the limit is EUR 430 per person and for travellers up to the age of15, the limit is EUR 200 per person. Tobacco products, alcohol and fuelare not included in the total level of exempt goods, nor are goods, whichyou bring in with you but intend to also take back with you or medicinesfor personal use.In the case of tobacco products, exemption from customs duty, VAT andconsumer tax applies for the following amounts:

• 200 cigarettes,• or 100 cigars of up to 3 grams,• or 50 cigars,• or 250 g of smoking tobacco.

Import of alcohol is exempt from customs duty, VAT and consumer taxin the following amounts:

• a total of 1 litre of alcohol and alcoholic drinks with ABV of over 22%or undenaturated alcohol with ABV of at least 80%.

• a total of 2 litres of alcohol and alcoholic drinks with ABV of up to22%.

• a total of 4 litres of still (non-sparkling) wine and 16 litres of beer.You can import fuel (if you do not want to pay anything extra) at a max-imum amount equal to a full vehicle tank plus 10 litres in a canister. Im-port is exempt up to this amount from customs duty, VAT and consumertax.

If you import cash in Czech or foreign currency, or cheques, vouchers ex-changeable for cash, investment instruments, precious metals or stonesat a value in excess of EUR 10,000, you are obliged to notify the customsauthority of this in writing.

MOTORING INFORMATIONRules of the road in the Czech Republic are very similar to those in otherEuropean countries

• Drive on the right.• Seatbelts must be used.• Headlights must be switched on all day, year round.• Children (smaller than 150 cm and weighing less than 36 kg) must

be placed in a child seat at all times.• Cyclist younger than 18 must wear a helmet

When you drive a car in the Czech Republic you are required to havewith you:

• A valid driving license; the Czech Republic recognizes the nationaldriving licenses of most countries;

• A vehicle registration document;• A car insurance certificate (Green Card) for the period covering the

use of the car in the Czech Republic; all vehicles must have validcompulsory vehicle insurance for accident liability.

Speed limits: 130 km/ph on the motorway, 50 km/ph in urban areas,90 km/ph outside urban areasAlcohol and drugs: The Czech Republic operates a zero tolerance ap-proach to the use of alcohol and other drugs prior to driving a motor ve-hicle.Motorways and tolls: You´ll need to have a motorway stickers stuckto the front windscreen. Motorway stickers fall into three categories: pas-senger cars (up to 3.5 tons), minibuses(from 3.5-12 tons) and coaches(over 12 tons). Motorway toll stickers can be bought at border crossingpoints, at petrol stations, all offices of the Czech Postal Service and otherselected outlets.Fuel and Oil: All kinds of petrol and diesel oil can be purchased at petrolstations in the Czech Republic for the local currency. Approx. Petrolprice: EUR 1.6 per litre.

INSURANCEVisitors from abroad are recommended to arrange their own insurancebefore travelling to the Czech Republic.

HEALTH CAREMedical treatment provided for a fee is stipulated by the appropriateCzech regulations or by international agreements made between thegovernment of the respective state and that of the Czech Republic.

VOLTAGE, SOCKETS and PLUGS:220V, European norm, three-pole earthed plugs have two pins and a holein the plug and one pin with two holes in the socket.

PRAGUE SIGHTSEEING & TOURS

Tour 1 - Grand City TourDuration: 3.5 hours (Bus + On Foot) | excluding AdmissionDuring the grand sightseeing tour you will be given all of the basic information about GoldenPrague's historical monuments. A bus will take you past the State Opera, the National Museum,and Wenceslas Square. Then you will continue through Charles Square to the banks of the VltavaRiver and across the river to Prague Castle. There, a walk around the Castle courtyards awaits you,where, among other things, you will have the opportunity to see St.Vitus Cathedral. The bus willthen take you across the Vltava River to the Old Town. You will find St. Nicholas Church, the TynChurch, and the Old Town Hall with its astronomical clock (horologe) and the 12 Apostles. Herethe tour ends, not far from the modern city centre. A visit to the Castle interior is included only inTour 3A.

Tour 2 - Informative Prague NO PICK UPDuration: 2 hours (Bus) | excluding AdmissionThis tour will enable you to acquire an overall view of the historical sites of Prague, the city of a hun-dred spires.
