Science, Engineering & Technology FairWednesday 28th September 2016 O’Reilly Hall, Belfield Campus 11:00am to 3:00pmThis event is open to all employers looking to promote graduate and internship opportunities in the science, engineering and technology sectors for 2017.

Who will be attending? Who can you target?Students attending will be University finalists, penultimate year students and recent graduates of all degree disciplines, but primarily from Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Software, Chemical, Civil and Computing Engineering, as well as Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences.

Law FairWednesday 5th October 2016 Astra Hall, Belfield Campus 1:00pm to 4:00pmThe fair is open to Law firms of all sizes. Small and medium sized firms are welcome. This event is an excellent way to raise your firm’s profile on campus and promote your vacation schemes and training contracts for 2017 and beyond.

Who will be attending? Who can you target? The Fair is targeted at UCD penultimate year Law students and final year students of all non-Law disciplines.

Internship FairWednesday 1st February 2017 Astra Hall, Belfield Campus 1:00pm to 4:00pmThis event is open to all employers looking to promote work experience opportunities for 2017 and to raise your profile ahead of the 2017–18 recruiting year. Small and medium sized employers are welcome.

Who will be attending? Who can you target? Students attending will be UCD penultimate year students looking for challenging work experience, summer internships and year placements. Over 1000 students from all degree disciplines visited the fair in spring 2016.

We can support you with information on how to advertise for graduate, paid internships, part-time/vacation work opportunities.

On Campus Interaction FacilitiesPresentations allow for a more in depth dialogue with students. Discuss in more detail what you are looking for in an application; your organisation’s culture and ethos towards its stakeholders and what differentiates you from your competition. Information stands allow students to meet with representatives and ask questions about your business and opportunities on a more informal basis.

• Introduce your organisation to students through an on campus presentation

• Deliver skills workshops to our students through our ‘Skills for Working Life Programme’

• Deliver career development models embedded into the curriculum as well as bespoke career programmes outside the curriculum, i.e. case study or business game.

Internships A key way of generating closer links with UCD is through getting involved in academic internships. There are numerous academic internships within the curriculum of UCD academic programmes. UCD sees academic internships as a means to enhance the academic experience for students as a part of their degree and to: • Develop employability skills and graduate attributes

in students • Make links between employer and students more

explicit • Bring University stakeholders closer to key businesses

and emerging industry sectors • Give hosts access to students early on in their studies • Provide a means for hosts to market employment

opportunities • Facilitate hosts in forming collaborative relationships

What Next?

Interested in hiring UCD Alumni?The UCD Alumni Network is a new online portal for UCD alumni to reconnect, stay posted about upcoming events and activities and to share career information and advice with their fellow alumni .

There is a jobs and opportunities panel which will feature upcoming vacancies to alumni (graduate career and internship opportunities should be notified to the UCD Career Development Centre). Over the coming months the Network is gradually being launched to 235,000 UCD alumni.

Specialist Recruitment: Research and Development The Research Careers team host a wide range of tailored networking events throughout the year, where companies can come along and meet candidates with specialist qualifications and advanced research, data-analytics and project-management skills and experience. SMEs and larger companies alike are invited in particular to come along our SFI Industry Fellowship and IRC Enterprise Partnership information sessions in Spring and Autumn to learn more about how you can avail of government funding to recruit a PhD researcher or project manager for your company.
