Q. What is the purpose of the Cisco CCNA® Security Instructor Certification Exam Discount Voucher

incentive program?

A. The purpose of this incentive program is to:

● Encourage Cisco® CCNA instructors to learn the new CCNA Security curriculum and become CCNA

Security instructors

● Encourage active CCNA Security instructors to complete the Implementing Cisco IOS® Network Security

(IINS 640-553) certification by removing cost constraints

● Improve instructor familiarity and comfort with the CCNA Security certification exam and process so they can

better support students who wish to become certified

Q. What exam do I need to complete to obtain my CCNA Security certification?

A. To obtain a CCNA Security certification you must hold a valid CCNA certificate and successfully pass the IINS

(640-553) exam.

Q. What is the duration of the incentive program?

A. The incentive program began August 8, 2009 and ends September 30, 2010.

Q. What will happen at the end of the incentive program?

A. The Cisco Networking Academy® program and Learning@Cisco continually evaluate the effectiveness of

certification incentive programs and reserve the right to end, extend, or modify them. We will provide timely

announcements of any changes.

Q. What does the CCNA Security certification exam voucher provide?

A. Eligible instructors will receive a 50 percent discount on the IINS 640-553 examination fees.

Q. Who is qualified to receive a CCNA Security certification exam discount voucher?

A. To qualify for a voucher, an instructor must either already be qualified to teach CCNA Security and be listed as

the primary instructor for a class with three or more students, or the instructor must successfully complete the

CCNA Security instructor training.

Q. How does an instructor qualify to teach CCNA Security?

A. An instructor may qualify to teach CCNA Security by successfully completing the CCNA Security instructor

training course or CCNA Security Fast Track. Instructors who have taught one of the follow Networking

Academy courses can also teach CCNA Security:

● Network Security 1 (unsupported)

● Network Security 2 (unsupported)

● Cisco CCNP®: Implementing Secure Converged Wide-Area Networks

Q. What is the process for obtaining a CCNA Security certification exam discount voucher?

A. If an instructor is already qualified to teach the CCNA Security curriculum without completing the CCNA

Security instructor training, s/he must open a case with the Support Desk. To open a case, log in to Academy

Connection, click Help at the top of the page, and select the Academy Support link. You can also reach the

Support Desk through email at [email protected]. Type “CCNA Security Instructor Voucher

Request” in the subject line of your case or email.

In the body of your case or email, provide the following information:

● Name

● Academy Connection username

● Academy ID

The Support Desk will manually issue vouchers to qualified instructors within 3-5 business days and add the

voucher number to their instructor profile to avoid duplicate issuance.

Instructors who have successfully completed the CCNA Security training should see a link to request a voucher

on their Academy Connection Instructor homepage. The link will remain active for one year or until September

30, 2010, whichever comes first. After an instructor clicks the link to request a voucher, the link will disappear

and the voucher information will appear in the instructor’s profile.

Q. How do I register for a CCNA Security (IINS 640-553) certification exam?

A. Cisco certification exams are delivered through Cisco’s primary testing partner, Pearson VUE. There are three

ways to register for an exam with Pearson VUE:

● To register for an exam online, please sign in to your account using your Pearson VUE username and

password. If you do not have a username and password, please create a web account at the linked sign-in

page above.

● Call a Pearson VUE service center (www.pearsonvue.com/cisco/contact )

● Register directly with a testing center. Visit www.pearsonvue.com/cisco to find a center near you.

Q. How long will my CCNA Security certification exam discount voucher be valid?

A. The link to request your voucher will remain active for one year or until September 30, 2010, and the voucher

will expire on December 31, 2010.

Q. I believe I have met the eligibility requirements to receive a voucher and I do not see a link on my

Academy Connection homepage to request one. Who should I contact?

A. Open a case with the Support Desk by logging into Academy Connection and clicking Help at the top of the

page.

Q. Will there be a student voucher incentive program for CCNA Security certification?

A. A CCNA Security Student certification voucher incentive program was provided between mid-December 2009

and July 31, 2010. The program ended on August 1, 2010 and there are no current plans to extend it.

Vouchers issued to students under this program can be used any time prior to their expiration date, no later

than October 31, 2010.

Q. How does Cisco manage possible ethics or policy considerations raised by the provision of valuable

discount vouchers?

A. Cisco is dedicated to the highest standards of legal compliance, ethical behavior, and accurate disclosure to

the public. Various government and other organizations may have gift rules that either limit or prohibit their

employees from accepting anything of value or of some tangible benefit above a specific dollar amount. We

respectfully request that you, as a potential participant in this voucher program, first confirm with your employer

that your acceptance of this voucher is in compliance with your employer's ethics guidelines and other

applicable laws and regulations before you participate in this program. By your participation in this program,

you are acknowledging that you have confirmed that it is appropriate under your organization's rules to accept

this voucher. This voucher is not subject to any assignment and is not transferable. Qualified participants are

those who meet all requisite criteria, as set forth at Cisco Networking Academy Vouchers.

Q. Can unused instructor CCNA Security Vouchers be transferred?

A. No. Networking Academy discount vouchers are for the sole use of the instructor or student to whom they were

originally issued. Any transfer, whether as a gift or a sale, is strictly prohibited and constitutes a breach of Cisco

policy. Any transfer, sale, or misuse of any Networking Academy discount voucher is subject to sanctions

which may include the invalidation of any existing Cisco certifications, and being banned from any future

certifications. Any solicitation involving requests or offers to sell or transfer Networking Academy Discount

vouchers by any means other than through official Networking Academy distribution channels should be

reported to the Support Desk. Open a case with the Support Desk by logging into Academy Connection and

clicking Help at the top of the page.
