CCCED Co-Hosts Missouri General Assembly Session Wrap Up Luncheon With Chambers of Commerce

The CCCED, the Cass County Coalition of Chambers and the Peculiar Chamber of Commerce co-hosted a 2015 Missouri General Assembly Legislative Session Wrap-Up Luncheon that featured Cass County’s Missouri General Assembly Delegation of State Senator Ed Emery and State Representatives Donna Pfautsch, John Bondon, and Rick Brattin.

The event on July 9, 2015 at the Lions Club Building in Peculiar, MO drew a good crowd of interested Cass County stakeholders. Each of the legislators shared their respective legislative highlights as well as some potential missed opportunities for the past session and offered assistance on constituent issues.

The Cass County Corporation for Economic Development has a new logo and a new website. Please check out www.ccced.org and provide us your feedback. We have organized the site around Resource/Partners, Site Selection/Workforce, Communities, News/Events, and Organization.

Special thanks to KCPL for their financial support in developing the new site.

CCCED Hosts Cass County Workforce Development Discussion

On July 23, the CCCED hosted a discussion regarding Cass County workforce development. The issue is a major focus of the CCCED and the meeting brought together leaders of the education and business communities and local elected officials to discuss this critical issue for economic development in the county.

There was a great sharing of ideas and a real esprit de corps among the gathering as we discussed possible steps to enhance the development of a workforce to meet the economic development growth and employment demands of the future. The Belton, Raymore-Peculiar, Pleasant Hill, Archie, Cass-Midway, Sherwood and Harrisonville School Districts as well as the Metropolitan Community College of Kansas City were all represented.

The CCCED will be taking part in the 2015 Greater KC Workforce and Education Summit at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center on November 3, 2015. The CCCED encourages interested school districts, businesses, local government, civic organizations and other interested parties to attend.

Additional information regarding the Summit is available through the Mid America Regional Council.
