BIOLOGY (044) Time allowed: 3 hrs. Maximum Marks: 70 General Instructions:

1. There are a total of 27 questions and five sections in the question paper. All questions are compulsory.

2. Section A contains question numbers 1 to 5, multiple choice questions of one mark each.

Section B contains question numbers 6 to 12, short answer type I questions of two marks each.

Section C contains question numbers 13 to 21, short answer type II questions of three marks each.

Section D contains question number 22 to 24, case-based short answer type questions of three

marks each.

Section E contains question numbers 25 to 27, long answer type questions of five marks each.

One programming problem in C++ to be developed and tested in Computer during the examination. General instructions:

i. All the questions in both the sections are compulsory. Marks for questions

are indicated against each question.

ii. Question number 1 - 10 and 18 - 27 are very short-answer questions

carrying 1 mark each. They are required to be answered in one word or one

sentence each.

iii. Question number 11 - 12 and 28 - 29 are short-answer questions caring

3 marks each. Answers to them should not normally exceed 60-80 words each.

iv. Question number 13 - 15 and 30 - 32 are also short-answer questions

ENGLISH CORE (CODE NO. 301) SECTION A

READING COMPREHENSION 20 Marks The section A will have two passages . A. One unseen passage with a variety of Objective Type Questions, including Multiple Choice questions and Short Answer Questions to test comprehension, interpretation and inference. Vocabulary such as word formation and inference of meaning will also be tested. The total length of the passages will be between 800 - 900 words. Five Multiple Choice type question and Seven Objective Type Questions (total 12 Marks) shall be asked from this passage. The passage will include one of the following: a) Factual passages, e.g., instructions, descriptions, reports. b) Descriptive passages involving opinion, e.g., argumentative, persuasive or interpretative text. c) Literary passages, e.g., extract from fiction, drama, poetry, essay or biography. B. The second passage will be of 400-500 words . Note-making and Abstraction will be assessed. i. Note making (4 Marks) ii. Summary (4 Marks).
