Dear Conference Attendee,

On behalf of the Colorado Behavioral Healthcare Council, we welcome you to our 2012 conference! This year the theme of The Promise of Behavioral Health in Healthcare

Reform: Better Care Better Health Better Cost stands to be a very exciting one. The

CBHC conference is the largest behavioral health conference in the Rocky Mountain area, and offers state of the art thinking about how behavioral health organizations are critical to meeting the Triple Aim of health care reform.

People's behaviors can improve physical health outcomes and the best results are achieved when behavioral and physical health providers and consumers work together to improve health and meet the Triple Aim. As we did last year, we are excited to offer Clinical, Board/Manager, and Business tracks simultaneously from Friday through Sunday, with the specific aim of appealing to a broader array of people. We are also starting the Clinical track on Thursday afternoon with an “all clinical” afternoon that ends on Sunday at noon.

Some specific highlights include: Monica Oss and John Talbot from Open Minds who will speak on new service lines and marketing. Chris Peterson and Nansook Park will offer two full days on mentor coaching. This training will provide new ways to work with clients as well as a foundation for helping personnel engage in new service lines that work well with physical health care.

Dale Jarvis will share his latest thinking about integrated care and payment models. The Integration track will offer sessions taught by national and local experts on integrated pain management, trauma-informed care, and other tools to provide effective care in integrated settings. Plus the newest research on what is new in the area of integration with physical and behavioral health.

We are bringing back two outstanding speakers from last year, Sara Qualls and Isabel Tierney. Sara will again share her knowledge regarding working with seniors and Isabel will again address eating disorders. These two speakers were in high demand! Amy Gallagher is also returning, and will speak on the Columbia model of working with youth who have an oppositional defiant disorder. The manual she shared was viewed as a key tool for all clinicians who work with children.

Our Friday afternoon keynote features Dr. Elizabeth Stuyt, who addresses the topic of medical marijuana. Peter Brinkerhoff, the Saturday keynote, will be speaking about stewardship and making good decisions in bad times.

You will not want to miss our afternoon keynote entertainment. It will be pure fun with the “Patsy DeCline Show” performed by Lannie Garrett. This will be a hilarious parody of some of the “real Patsy's” songs.

We have many great sessions for Board members, including best practice for non profit governance, “Finance 101” for board members, and leadership for board members. Of course we will have a board roundtable where board members can meet one another, debrief the conference, and ask questions of other board members from across the state.

All of this great information plus many FUN activities await you! We will have an evening networking event on Friday and our Board recognition on Saturday. Then, if that is not enough, we are offering an “Executive Leadership University” on Thursday which is an all day course for any rising leader who wants to learn more. We will cover leadership, business tools, financial statements, marketing, and crisis communications among other topics.

The Annual CBHC Conference is THE place to be Sep 27-Sep 30! We are confident you will find this conference worth your time and your training money. It is a full agenda with powerful and meaningful speakers. See YOU in Breckenridge!
