All Souls envelopes can be found at the entrances to the Church. Please take one and write the names of loved ones you would like remembered and drop the envelope in the offertory basket. The envelopes will be placed on our Altars and your loved ones remembered at all of our Masses during the month of November.

November 3, 2019: THIRTY FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Christ Loves Us First
Christ loves us first. So much of the Christian life is as simple as that. Today’s Gospel is a prime example! “Now a man there named Zacchaeus, who was a
chief tax collector and also a wealthy man … was seeking to see who Jesus was.” We may have gotten used to the story of Zacchaeus, this short,
seemingly innocent man who climbs a sycamore tree in his desperate desire to see Jesus. But this colorful, children’s Bible illustration isn’t what the gathering crowd would have seen. They would have seen the white collar
criminal. Tax collectors were notorious for extortion. They were collaborators with the oppressive Roman overlords, overcharging for taxes and skimming a cut off the top. And how does Jesus respond to this man?
“Come down quickly,” Jesus says, “for today I must stay at your house.” If you had been there, would you have
believed it? No doubt there were other disciples in the city or, at the very least, kind, generous and just people. “Good” people. But those aren’t the people Jesus chooses to share a meal with. Christ loves us first. He chooses Zacchaeus even before the man makes a public profession of his repentance.
“The Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost.” We may not be tax collectors and extortionists
— I hope not! — but we all have elements of our lives that are lost. We have wounds from childhood, unresolved anxieties or attachments, daily fears. No matter how “put together” we are, we all have our lost moments. Some days, it may feel like we can’t see over the ways they crowd our inner life. Today’s Gospel
invites us to do something a little strange. Don’t let your flaws, failures, or hang-ups prevent you from seeing Jesus. Take a deep breath. Go climb a tree, because Jesus is passing by. And he wants to stay in your heart today.

Catholic Weymouth Walks with Friends New Location: Beautiful Legion Field!
Fr. Huy and folks from Immaculate Conception Parish and Saint Jerome Parish continue to meet each week to walk and to build up our Catholic Weymouth community. It is wonderful to get to know each other while having fun and staying fit. We hope you can join us at our new
walking location. Legion Field has well lit, looped walking paths.

Thank you to all families who have joined us for Family Faith Formation. Please feel free to join us at any time. For those who have chosen the homeschooling option, the sessions take place on Wednesdays from 3:45-4:45pm at the Msgr Hackett Center. The Wednesday parent sessions will
be the same presentations as the Sunday parent sessions. All are welcome.

10am in the Peruzzi Performance Pavilion at Saint Jerome School. Students will join in patriotic songs
and verse to honor American heroes throughout history and from all branches of the military. This event is free and open to everyone. Light

Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest
Catholic Weymouth Council 729 invites students in grades K-8 to participate in the K of C International Keep Christ in Christmas poster contest. Our local contest will award winning entries in grade groups (K-2, 3-5, 6-8) a certificate and $25 gift card, and advancement to the district/region/state, national/international levels. Winning entries may serve as the basis for a series of new Christmas posters. Download entry forms from: www.weymouthkofc729.org Entries are due no later than Monday, November 25.

Mass of Remembrance and Healing
For Pregnancy and Infant Loss
The Pro-Life Office and Project Rachel ministry of the Archdiocese of Boston will hold this Annual Mass on Tuesday, November 5 at 7pm at Bethany Chapel in the Pastoral Center (66 Brooks Drive, Braintree).
Celebrant and homilist will be Rev. J. Bryan Hehir, Secretary for Health and Social Services of the Archdiocese of Boston. A light reception and
opportunity for Sacramental Reconciliation (Confession) will be available after the Mass. A special invitation is extended to parents, grandparents
and siblings who grieve the death of children as a result of miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion or early infant death. These losses may be recent or extend

Witness to Life Pilgrimage to Washington DC
Registration is now open for the annual Witness to
Life pilgrimage to Washington, DC on January 23-25. This is a great opportunity for parish groups to go on pilgrimage together, pray, and March for Life!

Grand Annual Appeal

responded to our Grand Annual Appeal. This appeal is the only major fundraiser benefitting our parishes and is of critical importance. If you did not receive a
letter from Father Huy, there are some located at the entrance to the Church.
Parishioners can support the 2019 Grand Annual Appeal in three ways:
• Make you gift during the weekly offertory collection using the special (yellow) envelope or noting “Grand Annual” in the memo line of your
check • Mail or drop off your gift to the parish office • Give online at catholicweymouth.org
While each family needs to prayerfully consider their own Grand Annual gift, we ask that if possible, this
