A WELCOMING COMMUNITY

2015 Offertory Envelopes Envelopes for 2015 are now available.

If you do not see envelopes with

your name on them, please help your-

self to an unlabeled packet located

after the labeled envelopes. Some

parishioners prefer to make dona-

tions without envelopes so we only give envelopes to parishioners

who use them. Using envelopes helps us provide more accurate

giving statements at the end of the year. This might also be a

good time to consider automatic banking. It is easy and quick. If

you have any questions, please contact the parish office at 458-6114.

Feast of the Immaculate Conception

The Feast of the Immaculate Concep-

tion is Dec. 8th. It is not a holyday of

obligation this year.

Advent Penance Service The Penance Liturgy will be

December 16th at 7:00 @ OLV.

After nourishing your soul,

stay to nourish your body with cookies

and apple cider.

Everyone is asked to bring a few Christmas cookies to

share.

(Fr. Dan says this may be your penance!)

What is the Advent Wreath” The Advent Wreath is one of our most popular Advent traditions.

Its origin is in pre-Christian Germany and Scandinavia where the

people gathered to celebrate the return of the sun after the win-

ter solstice. The circular wreath, made of evergreens with four

candles interspersed, represented the circle of the year and the

life that endures through the winter. As the days grew longer, peo-

ple lit candles to offer thanks to the “sun god” for the light. For us,

the lighting of the Advent candles represents the promise of the

coming of Jesus, the light of the world.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

We need volunteers to help put up outside

Christmas lights. Please call Sheila Hill @

458-9605 if you are able to help. Thank You!

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM By the

Our Advent Tea was delightful! Thanks to all who attended and all

who worked on this event, including organizers and table hostesses.

The free-will offering brought in approximately $1,510.

These funds will go to Options Women’s Clinic.

Catholic Update: (December issue) “Many Faces, One Church”

consider continuing to assist this young family

in their time of need.

Thank you.

“Thank you, Jesus, for all the little miracles in my life.”

I teach Sunday school, and we've been discussing the birth of

Jesus. When I asked 5-year-old Ryan if he knew the name of

Jesus's mother, he answered, "Mary." I said, "Good. Now can you

tell me his father's name?" Ryan replied, "Verge." When I asked

him where he came up with that, Ryan said, "Haven't you ever

heard people talking about Verge 'n' Mary?"
