1st Sunday of Lent
There are times in our lives when, like Jesus, we find our-selves alone and hungry in a wasteland. It is tempting when all is dry rock and rubble to put our faith in things that offer comfort and security. The Scriptures today invite us to put our trust and faith in God, the only one who can save us and give us life. We must reject the temptation to make “gods” of or to place our trust in material goods, power or control and rather to cling to our Lord who is our rock and refuge.

Lenten Listening Challenge Adding one hour of Catholic radio each day will strengthen your practices of prayer, fast-ing, and almsgiving during Lent. Tune in to KEDC 88.5 FM on the radio or listen on the app for iOS or Android devices: KEDC (iOS) or KEDC (Google Play).
From Ashes to Easter The annual diocesan Ashes to Easter Lenten Mission Campaign has begun. Each family is invited to pick up a box and keep it on or near the family dining table or by their bedside table. Put in some coins each day during Lent, and pray for missions world-wide. Contributing coins each day is a corporal work of mercy that will help shelter the homeless and spiritual work of mercy that will help comfort the sorrowful. The money collected helps local missionaries and missionary projects from our diocese.
