PARISH RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

CHILDREN’S FAITH FORMATION PARISH RELIGIOUS EDUCATION REGISTRATION: PRE classes have begun. It is not too late to register. Registration forms are available on the Church website, or may be picked up in the PRE office (off the Fellowship Hall). Classes are for children 3 yrs-8th grade, High School Confirmation Preparation and available for children with Special Needs. Contact the PRE Office for more information. CATECHISTS NEEDED: The following grade has no catechist: Wed. evenings from 6:00-7:15 for 4th grade. We still need assistants in some of the classes on Wed. evenings. We try to have two adults in each room to help “share the load”. Catechists and assistants receive 50% off their child’s registration fee! FIRST RECONCILIATION PARENT MTG: A mandatory parent meeting will be Wed. Sept. 23, from 6:00-7:15 PM, in the St. Therese Chapel (small Church). At least one parent must attend the meeting. This meeting is for parents who have a child preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation this year. SPECIAL NEEDS CLASS: Do you have a child with special needs, who needs to prepare for the sacraments? If so please contact the Parish Religious Education office so that we can address the need that you have. “If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.”

DIOCESAN SACRAMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Remember that the Diocese of Memphis requires that students must have two consecutive years of Religious Education prior to receiving the sacraments of Reconciliation, Communion, and Confirmation. Therefore children must be enrolled in 1st and 2nd grades, and 7th and 8th grades. However, every year builds on the other and therefore all students K-8th

should be enrolled! Learning about our faith is a life long journey!

YOUTH MINISTRY • Our Youth Ministry kick-off will be Sun., September 13; 4:00 - 7:00 PM on the ball field. All 6-12th graders & their families are invited

for a fun afternoon. Come find out what youth ministry has planned for this year! • First Encounter (High School Youth Group Meeting) will be Wed., September 16, 6:30 - 8:30 PM. Please note that we are starting 30

minutes earlier this year than last year. All high school students are invited.! • Our first BASIC Event ( Middle School Group Meeting) will be our fall dance on Fri., September 18, 7:00 - 9:30 PM. The cost is $5 in

advance or $10 at the door. Tickets will be sold during PRE the 2 weeks prior to the dance, and also will be available to purchase through ICS. Youth are encouraged to bring friends to this event.

ADULT FAITH FORMATION RCIA: Have you been coming to Mass and have questions about the Catholic Faith? Join us on Thursday evenings and learn what it means to be a Catholic. You will get to know people just like you who are exploring their faith and on the path to becoming fully initiated. The meetings offer insight into Bible teachings, what Mass is all about, the Eucharist, the Virgin Mary and much more. RCIA gives you the opportunity to ask all of your questions about the church in an open and honest environment. A new group is about to begin. Text or call Andy McNutt at (901) 486-5199 or email [email protected] for more information.

PARISH RUMMAGE SALE THANK YOU! We would like to express our thanks to all who helped us with the Parish Rummage Sale last Saturday. From helping at the Ministry House to sorting through donations, moving boxes and furniture items, purchasing signs and ads, posting on social media, unloading into the gym and set-ting up tables for the sale, making signs, helping "man" the sale (teens and adults), and cleaning up, we could not have pulled it off without all the help we received! We raised over $7,800 for the Parish debt, so again, we thank you for your contributions and hard work, Kimberly and Missy .
