Phoebe Gormley Company: Gormley & Gamble Position: Founder In October 2014, 22 year old Phoebe Gormley founded her

company, Gormley & Gamble, a women's only tailor.

Having interned on the Row and Jermyn Street from a young

age, tailoring was always a passion of Phoebe‘s.

She soon began to realise that there was a gap in the market for bespoke women‘s wear;

elegant, intelligent designs of Savile Row quality and fit. And so she took a ‗Gamble‘ – quitting

university and using what would have been her final year‘s tuition fees to start her own

business.

Phoebe started out in an incubator called Bathtub-to-Boardroom, before moving to her own

premises in the City. She made her first sale to the CEO of Virgin Money, Jayne-Anne Gadhia,

and as the company continued to expand she made the leap to Savile Row. This unification of

men's and women's tailoring would have been unheard of only a few years ago, and is a sign

of the sometimes exclusive street's acceptance and support of Gormley & Gamble.

It also made her the first-women's-only-tailor in the history of Savile Row; an impressive

feat for someone aged just 22. Phoebe continues to use her resources to support other women

across the working world; whether it is hosting a networking evening, donating to charity, or

mentoring interns and other young women.

She is lauded as a champion of women in business and reguarly gives talks and panel

discussions at schools including Wycombe Abbey, as well as the Coutts' Future Leader

conference, and the Fashion Exchange.

Additional social contributions: Gormley & Gamble is a supporter of the charity Womankind

and hosts fundraisers for them. They also regularly send samples to the charity SmartWorks,

which dresses women for interviews. They regulalry take on interns, with a view to giving more

young women access to Savile Row and the tailoring industry, notoriously hard to break into.

Charlotte Pearce

Company: Inkpact Position: Founder Motivational speaker, advisor to social enterprises, women in tech ambassador and Director of a £50,000 fund to accelerate student start-ups, 24-year-old Charlotte Pearce wears many hats – and also runs two businesses. Charlotte caught the entrepreneurial bug while at school selling makeup and bags online before founding her first full-scale business Inkpact when she graduated from the University of Southampton. Her other business is OR, a consultancy for large corporates that uses innovation to solve their problems and inspire their teams. Inkpact helps businesses engage and retain their customers by sending personalised, branded, handwritten communications. She came up with the idea for the platform when she learnt that handwritten communication was becoming a powerful tool for businesses that wanted to stand out against its impersonal digital equivalent – the only problem was that most didn‘t have the time or skill to do it. The company‘s technology enables businesses to send personalised communication at scale, with each notecard or letter then handwritten in fountain pen and ink by a writer from home. This more than 50-strong team of writers includes everyone from stay at home mothers to elderly people and the disadvantaged – offering an income source to those who might struggle to find or have time for full-time employment. Inkpact, which charges per letter or on a subscription basis, has so far raised a seed investment round of £150,000 and is reinvesting all its profits into building out its technology. For herself, Charlotte hopes to use her success to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs of all ages. ―It doesn‘t matter if you are 15 or 50 you can start a business and

follow your dreams‖, she says.

Additional social contributions: By 2020, Inkpact want to create work-from-home roles for

over 100,000 people in the UK and be at the forefront of the movement to promote handwriting

and literacy across the world. They provide flexible working for those who cannot commit to

full-time or a traditional, 9-5, office-based work pattern. By providing truly flexible work that can

be completed from any location, Inkpact has the potential to create opportunities for thousands

and have a positive impact on reducing unemployment and underemployment rates in the UK.

Lorraine Barclay

Company: ICAP plc Position: Head, Global Business Services From payroll clerk to Head of Global Business Services, ICAP, Lorraine has been working since the age of 14 - when she managed payroll for a Working Men's Club while also doing a cleaning job (and collecting glasses in a pub). She worked in a burger chain every school night and weekends, and cleaned offices in the school holidays. Lorraine has risen from extremely humble beginnings to one of the most senior roles in ICAP, one of the largest and most influential financial service providers in the world. Lorraine has spent the majority of her working life at EBS/ICAP, joining EBS following its acquisition of Citicorp Dealing Resources in June 1996. Lorraine was initially in an Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable role for EBS, but in short order assumed more and more responsibilities, specifically in respect of managing financial aspects of EBS' significant global infrastructure including payroll, royalties and brokerage commissions. By 2003, Lorraine held the position of Group Financial Controller for EBS. Following EBS' acquisition by ICAP in 2006, Lorraine's talent was recognised by Michael Spencer and she was promoted to the position of Group Tax Director for the entire ICAP entity, and again to Group Financial Controller, ICAP by 2010. She is currently Head of Global Business Services for ICAP. It is important to acknowledge that Lorraine has risen to the very top of her industry without formal qualifications beyond O Levels. Despite working ridiculously long hours, she also raised two daughters, both of whom went to university (very likely among the first children in the Barclay family to achieve this). Additional social contributions: Lorraine is committed to a number of social initiatives, through ICAP and personally. She is a very active proponent of the Leadership through Sport & Business, a social mobility charity that gives bright, disadvantaged young people access to careers in accounting and finance. ICAP is one of many employers offering 12 month paid apprenticeships which includes on-going personal and professional development. The charity also works with Chelsea, West Ham United, Aston Villa and Leyton Orient‘s foundations to deliver coaching, mentoring and leadership skills. Links to evidence supporting the nomination:
