Our Mission Statement The Roman Catholic Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist Community is dedicated to the celebration of the Eucharist, the center of our life, to prayer, holiness of life and service to the poor. We have a multi-faceted community, greatly enriched by people from over twenty seven (27) countries, principally from Central America, South America and the Islands of the Caribbean. We strive to grow in our faith and love for God and one another in our service to our homeless and disadvantaged. We have a strong emphasis on evangelization through prayer communities, frequent Retreats and Missions. We are profoundly dedicated to heed the call of Saint John the Baptist: "Prepare the Way of the Lord." (The Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mathew 3:3) and "He must increase and I must decrease." (The Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 3:20)

Declaracion de Nuestra Mision La Comunidad Parroquial de la Catedral Catolica Romana de San Juan Bautista esta dedicada a la celebracion de la Eucaristia, el centro de nuestra vida, a la oracion, al ejercicio de una vida santa y al servicio de los pobres. Somos una comunidad polifacetica, grandemente enriquecida por gentes de veintisiete (27) Paises Naciones especialmente venida de Centro America, Suramerica, y las Islas de el Caribe. Nosotros tratamos de crecer en fe y en amor a Dios y al projimo en nuestro servicio a los pobres, los que no tienen techo ni oportunidades. THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME First Reading: Daniel 12:1-3 Daniel discusses the end of the world, a time when the dead shall rise and everyone will be judged. He warns that some shall “be an everlasting horror and disgrace.” But he promises that some will live forever, and the wise will shine brightly to lead others to justice. Second Reading: Hebrews 10:11-14, 18 Priests repeatedly offered sacrifices that were unable to take away sin. But through Jesus’ one sacrifice, our sins were forgiven, leaving no need for other offerings. Gospel: Mark 13:24-32 Jesus told his disciples that many signs would be seen before the end of the world. He explained that the earth would pass away but his words would not. He also told them that neither the angels nor himself, but only his Father knew when this would take place.

THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

“Every priest stands daily at his ministry offering frequently those same sacrifices that

can never take away sins. But this one offered one sacrifice for sins and took his seat

forever at the right hand of God, now he waits until his enemies are made his footstool.

For by one offering he has made perfect forever those who are being consecrated. Where

there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer offering for sin.”

On the day of our baptism we were anointed with the holy chrism, and told that we share with

Jesus in His ministry of priest, prophet and king. Christ, whose name means the Anointed One,

received us as member of His Kingdom, the church. He is the prophetic voice, speaking for God

and is God. He is the priest, whose continuing sacrifice we participate in at every mass.

We have been consecrated, set apart to do great works for the Lord. We are concluding the

‘Year of Consecrated Life’, honoring those religious, men and women, and consecrated virgins

for their commitment and witness. With them, we live our consecration to build the Kingdom of

Jesus Christ.

God asked St. Francis to rebuild His church. Francis’ namesake, our Holy Father was set out to

do the same, and calls us to work with him to make it happen.

Trigésimo Tercer Domingo en Tiempo Ordinar 15 de noviembre de 2015 “Cada sacerdote se presenta diariamente para cumplir su ministerio y ofrecer muchas veces los mismos sacrificios, que son totalmente ineficaces para quitar el pecado. Cristo, en cambio, después de haber ofrecido por los pecados un único Sacrificio, se sentó para siempre a la derecha de Dios, donde espera que sus enemigos sean puestos debajo de sus pies. Y así, mediante una sola ofrenda, él ha perfeccionado para siempre a los que santifica. Y si los pecados están perdonados, ya no hay necesidad de ofrecer por ellos ningún sacrificio.” En el día de nuestro bautismo fuimos ungidos con el santo óleo, y se nos dijo que compartimos con Jesús en su ministerio como sacerdote, profeta y rey. Cristo, cuyo nombre significa El Ungido, nos recibió como miembros de Su Reino, la iglesia. El es la voz profética, vocero de Dios y es Dios. El es el sacerdote en cuyo continuo sacrificio participadas en cada misa. Hemos sido consagrados, apartados para hacer grandes obras para el Señor. Concluimos el ‘Año de Vida Consagrada’, honrando a estos religiosos, hombres y mujeres y consagradas vírgenes por su compromiso y testimonio. Con ellos vivimos nuestra consagración para construir el Reino de Jesucristo. Dios le pidió a San Francisco que reconstruyera su iglesia. Nuestro Santo Padre, quien adoptó este nombre, intenta hacer lo mismo y nos llama a trabajar con él para lograrlo.
