Training Philosophy

Our training concepts stem from our daily project work. Improving the business requires to implement new approaches, techniques, methods and tools. Implementing those requires people in place who have the capabilities to succeed.

In order to make our project results last, we build them together with the people in place and we help these people to develop.

This leads to our very practical and result-oriented training philosophy. Experience and experiment to understand. Learn to implement. Learn to adapt.Struggle, learn, adapt: succeed.

Empowering people to also train their colleagues is important to drive wide-reaching change in an organization.

Success is not just about understanding methods:

It’s about being able to facilitate and build on methods

It’s about integrating new tools into an existing production system

It’s about enthusing colleagues

It’s about using new approaches in everyday-leadership

Our approach to training combines coaching and practice. All trainings are based onapplying theory to real cases.

We provide the right recipe and ingredients by using our proven tools and methods. You share your expertise, your insights and your thoughts. Together we develop ideas to ensure lasting results with long-term impact.

We offer certification based on the level of demonstrated capability. We offer our delivery in more than 15 languages. We are more than happy to tailor each training to your specific needs to ensure successful implementation.

Lean Train-the-Trainer

Training SpecialtyYou can’t learn to become a great trainer by theory alone. You have to train and receive qualified feedback. However, it’s also about a lot of interesting techniques helping you and providing structure. Therefore you get input first and then have the opportunity to practice. We will work in VERY small groups of 3-5 participants only.

Implementing Lean requires to train people on all levels of the hierarchy. Thereby, the quality of the training itself represents a first success factor. Trainings need to be adapted regarding the deepness of theory. They should be exciting, practical and fun to ensure a lasting learning experience. This training establishes the capabilities to get there.

Lean Leadership

Training SpecialtyOn the one hand, working in simulations within a safe environment helps to build an individual approach matching the personality for daily or weekly improvement routines. On the other hand, this change of perspective will have an impact on Leadership behavior in most situations.

Lean leaders increase efficiency and productivity through the way they lead, using feedback, coaching, regular meetings around boards and visualization (usually 10-20% annually). However, this requires changing the daily management style, behavior and habits of managers. This course preparesmanagers and executives for the requirements of effective Lean Leadership.

Toyota Kata

Training SpecialtyToyota Kata is a very practical approach. And one day is the maximum to practice in a theoretical environment. We allow for a lot of experimenting, role plays and feedback, which will improve and broaden your leadership skills directly. To implement Toyota Kata the famous coach-trainer relationships and practicing within the real shopfloor environment are key success factors.

Toyota Kata is a leadership approach and style. It helps to turn around the dynamics of an organization and generates improvement bottom-up while setting challenges top-down. It prevents enthusiastic Lean leaders from the typical phenomenon of generating a lot of initiatives in production without prioritizing them. Toyota Kata applied in the right way can be very motivating and inspiring.

Training Outcome✓ Providing an idea of how Toyota Kata works

Lean in Transactional Processes

Training SpecialtyIt’s about understanding the philosophy and key mechanisms of the methods. At the same time the effects in small simulations as well as insights into many practical examples and case studies are experienced.

Transactional processes are often rather “invisible”. As a result waste is more difficult to spot. It’s much harder to introduce transparency and to visualize progress or performance. And exactly this is why it’s even more important to introduce Lean into transactions. There’s a lot to win and here are the tools!

Training Outcome✓ A great overview on how to achieve success

using Operational Excellence approaches✓ Case studies showing how it works in

different situations and for different challenges

Introduction to Life Sciences

oConsulting works for companies from different industries, but our focus lies on Life Sciences. Special regulations and requirements shape the Life Sciences, driven by the impact of your product on patient’s health. This is of course strengthened through the expectations and controls coming from health authorities such as the FDA.

We offer trainings that address your specific needs, e.g. in regard to understanding and solving deviations.

With more than fifteen years experience in the Pharma Industry, our consultantsknow your challenges and speak your language.

In addition to the trainings mentioned on the next pages in this section being purely focused on the Life Sciences, all trainings in this catalogue can be tailored to your industry. The content of each training usually remains the same, but is explained using pharma or medical device specific examples and cases.

Rapid Root Cause Investigation

Training SpecialtyParticipants work on current and open cases from their site and are directly supported by experienced consultants. We highly recommend to combine this with additional coaching days over the following periods to close the investigations.

Especially in GxP regulated environments it is important to identify and document efficiently the root causes of deviations. At the same time, truly understanding the root cause provides an opportunity to stabilize and improve your processes. In the end, not being able to release a batch due to an open deviation could be an expensive, nonetheless, often avoidable issue.

Statistics for APR/PQR

Training SpecialtyAs participants bring their real cases, some “daily work” gets already done through the course reducing the time “away from office”. Together with increased confidence and speed of use, the three days of attending the training will result in multiple days saved per attendant and year.

The expectations of health authorities have increased regarding the use of statistics in Annual Product Reviews/ Product Quality Reviews (APR / PQR). While historically it was enough to be “inside the spec limits”, now companies are expected to analyze and explain their product’s variation using various tools like distribution analysis, Control Charts and Ppk.

Training Outcome✓ Report writers apply statistical principles to

assess product behavior and performance using solid, established tools.

✓ They become confident to apply the relevant, and only the relevant calculations.

Day 1 – Basic StatisticsTypes of dataTypes of DistributionsSample Size & ConfidenceMeasurement Systems

Day 2 – Process AnalysisProcess Stability Process CapabilityCapability Sixpack

Day 3 – Cause-Effect AnalysisHypothesis TestingSimple Linear RegressionMultiple Linear Regression

The three days can be done in one week orspread over 2-3 weeks.

You will also learn to effectively visualize statistical conclusions and summaries, allowing for efficiency in reading reports and clarity for decision-making.

Introduction to the 6 Genes

At oConsulting we have condensed many years of practical project experience into a method - the 6-Genes Project™. It conforms to the ISO 21500 guidance on Project Management and can be used in collaboration with standard project 'methodologies' such as PMI or PRINCE and by itself.

It recognizes that projects are 'living' things that have to adapt to evolutions in their environment (issues, scope changes, etc.). Therefore, the course is based on understanding the 6 core ‘genes’ which are the DNA of a robust project: Sponsorship, Leadership, Objective, Team, Method and Budget.

To build understanding and competence, a variety of methods and tools are used. Through planned and facilitated interventions, participants will learn how to knowledgeably and responsibly address key business projects of any type and scale.

They will learn how to mobilize, lead and deliver a project, how to ensure sponsors and stakeholders are engaged properly, and how to use key project management tools appropriately and effectively.

It teaches that a successful business project requires a balance between the ‘command and control’ of planning and progress reporting to the ‘coaching and supporting’ of the team as they tackle new and unfamiliar challenges.

The course sessions are activity-based and delivered by using a real business scenario.

6 Genes Project Management

Training SpecialtyThe course is very interactive and the time spent on each topic is tailored to each audience. At the beginning of the course a participant survey is made and expectations are gathered. During the course, discussion and dialogue on current projects and past experiences is encouraged.

This course focuses on a pragmatic and successful approach to managing business projects. It is based on understanding the 6 core ‘genes’ of a project. It teaches that a successful business project requires a balance between the ‘command and control’ of planning and progress reporting to the ‘coaching and supporting’ of the team as they tackle new and unfamiliar challenges.
