We celebrate any opportunity to be around the game from teeing it up on Opening Day to gathering with friends and fellow competitors at the 19th hole. We play in all weather conditions and insist that all pieces in our collection meet exacting standards expected by golfers who love to play the game and who respect the traditions of the sport.
We combine this passion for the game with years of design experience. We love color. We are noted for the freshness of our colors and our classic 'prep' East Coast color palette which has defined country club and resort wear for generations. Details matter. We use specially etched buttons which are slightly oversized to stay firmly buttoned throughout the life of the garment. We pay attention to the seam construction and shaping of collars, trims, and plackets. In particular, collars must hold their shape whether they are a soft knit collar or the currently popular, classic self-collar.
We embrace the performance revolution in fabrics for golf and casual wear. We search for the most comfortable and durable performance fabrics in natural and synthetic yarns. Fabric construction is the foundation of any apparel piece and often the quality most remembered about a garment. All Sakmann Apparel is designed for a flattering and updated fit, and mindful of changing trends, we take excess material out in the right places, but allow for complete freedom of motion throughout the golf swing.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
The year was 1966. Chuck Sakmann played his first round of golf, which marked the start of his lifelong love of the game. Soon he captained his high school golf team, played division one golf for Jacksonville University, obtained his degree, and was named Head Golf Coach at his alma mater.
When offered the opportunity to combine his passion for golf with a career in the golf apparel business, Chuck joined the Ernie Sabayrac Division of Izod /Lacoste and had the good fortune to work with many golf apparel experts, most notably Ernie Sabayrac, the man who first introduced Izod/Lacoste to the United States golf and tennis markets.
After his appointment as president of the Izod/Lacoste Golf and Tennis Division, Chuck and his dedicated team produced some of the most stylish and popular apparel of the 1980's and 1990's era. Tennis and golf were booming, and in a few short years Izod Club and Lacoste International Tour became the best-selling apparel in theUS golf and tennis markets. Staying close to the game has always been important in designing the most compelling performance apparel, and Chuck and his teams worked inside the ropes designing apparel to outfit many of golf's most accomplished players, including Tom Watson, Payne Stewart, Nancy Lopez, Julie Inkster, Betsy King, and David Toms.
Sensing an opportunity in the market ten years ago for an upscale, casual outerwear collection in the exclusive green grass and specialty store market, Chuck founded Sakmann Golf, LLC, and partnered with Bob Timberlake, Inc. to design and produce the Bob Timberlake Signature Apparel collection. Well received in country club and specialty stores, Bob Timberlake Signature Apparel is noted for its distinct, rustic look.
As golf apparel evolved with the use of more technical and athletic fabrics, Chuck sensed the timing was right to draw on his years of experience to design updated, classic performance apparel. Starting with the most important item in a golfer's wardrobe, the knit shirt, he introduced the Sakmann Apparel Collection of knits in 2011, which combined vibrant and classic 'prep' East Coast colors in a comfortable, light weight performance fabric. The fusion of classic looks and vibrant colors with the very best performance fabrics defines the Sakmann Apparel Collection. Building on the success of the first season, the collection has been expanded to include mid weight-layering pieces and wind-lined sweaters and fleece.

We have developed a great new micro fleece in poly that feels soft
and is amazingly durable. The outer fabric is bonded to the inner
fabric creating a windproof and super warm golf pullover. This
model features the fleece side out in a quarter zip pullover with knit
cuffs, banded bottom, and raglan shoulder for ease of movement.
