CATALOG Editing in Back-End Page and Component types

only Graduate, Undergraduate and Profile folders are accessible to end-users.

The type of page used in Catalog website is CatalogContentCollegePT.

In this type of pages three types of components can be used:

• Catalog Content with Catalog Content Main Section template.

• Policy with DCP template

• Generic with Generic Content template

Creating a Catalog webpage

In the back-end the component can be created first then the page or vice-versa. To create a component, navigate to Publications/03 Content WWW EN/Building Blocks/Content/Catalog/ and navigate to the right folder.

Click on the Create tab then New Component.

Caution should be taken when working in the Back-end of Tridion, since folder look similar in both 03 Content WWW EN and 05 Website WWW EN.

What is good to know is when looking for a component or trying to create one

Publications/03 Content WWW EN/Building Blocks/Content/Catalog/ is the appropriate location.

In the same manner when looking for a page or trying to create one Publications/05 Website WWW EN/Roots/Catalog/ is the proper location.

In the Schema field select Catalog Content, change the component name from New Component to the name you chose, and fill the required fields (Heading and Body). Editing to component is done using the formatting toolbar.

Then go to Metadata tab and fill the fields necessary to make it searchable (see the example below).

Then Go to General tab, click Save and Close.

To make a page go to Publications/05 Website WWW EN/Roots/Catalog/

And navigate to the proper folder. Click on New Page as shown below.

Fill all the required fields, starting with

• Name: not visible in a live page, this is how the page is recognized in the back-end

• File Name: should not have a space, character or under-score, it will show as the

page name in the URL just before aspx

• Page Template: this option is inherited from the parent folder, otherwise select

CatalogContentCollegePT template.

• Display Title: this is the page title displayed in the live page

• In the Metadata Schema make sure : Catalog Page Metadata is selected

• Academic Year: is a drop down menu, the format below is required (2012-2013)

To add a component to the page select Component Presentations and click Insert

From the window below navigate to the appropriate folder when the component was created

Select a component and click on the Component Template field then select:

• Catalog Content Main Section for CatalogContentCollegePT page

OR

• Policy – DCP for CatalogContentCollegePT page designated for policies only

Then single click Insert and Close

Then click Save and Close.

To submit to the workflow, go to Shortcuts >> My Tasks >> My Work List

Follow the steps from 1 to 4, then select the component just created and click Finish Activity button (top left of the windows).

Fill the Message box, and click Finish
