NEWSLETTER“Life Cycle of Plants”
Overview for Upcoming Unit
The following presentation will inform you on what we will be doing the next few weeks in class. Our project is titled “Life cycle of different Plants.” The purpose of this project is to learn about how plants grow.
The objectives will be: Incorporate technology Each student will choose a plant and research about that plant. Then create a
powerpoint or poster on the life cycle of the plant they choose. Presenting the project to their classmates Students will be able to classify plants according to their features
•Essential Question: • How can we find new solutions to help plants grow?
•Unit Question: • How can we “plug into” the sun?
•Content Question: • How do plants grow? • How does the suns position effect the growth of plants?

•I will be shaping my students into critical thinkers. •I will be helping students throughout the week to see the progress they have made.•I will encourage my students to work at the best of their ability and collaborate with their classmates.•I will help my students with anything they need help with as long as I see they have tried first.•I will provide supplies to the students that choose to create a poster. •I will provide time in the classroom to work on the project.
Role of Teacher
•Student will be responsible for creating a poster or a powerpoint about a plant they choose and its lifecycle. •Parents please support your children and help them research about the plant they choose. Also you are welcome to come hear your child present his/her project.

Benefits
This unit will let your child show their creativity and present their favorite plant. This will give the student an
opportunity to research about plants and learn more about plants that interest
them. This unit will also give the parents an opportunity to work with their child and come into the classroom to hear them present their plant and its life
cycle.
•Project based learning is when students demonstrate their knowledge by exploring situations through collaborative groups.•Students will use a variety of technology during PBL, such as, computers, the web, power points, and other forms of technology.•Research shows that PBL is engaging and more effective than teaching directly from the book. •Students enjoy this more!•21st Century Skills are enhanced.
