RATING DEFINITIONS AND CONDITIONS

C Rating (Maximum Continuous) -% Load Factor: 20 to 80% Time at Rated RPM: up to 50Typical Time at Full Load: 6 hours out of 12Typical Hour/Year: 2000 to 4000Typical Applications: For vessels operating at rated loadand rated speed up to 50% of the time with cyclical loadand speed (20% to 80% load factor). Typicalapplications could include but are not limited to vesselssuch as ferries, harbor tugs, fishing boats, offshoreservice boats, displacement hull yachts, or short tripcostal freighters. Typical operation ranges from 2000 to4000 hours per year.

Powerat declared engine speed is in accordance withISO3046-1:2002E. Caterpillar maintainsISO9001:1994/QS-9000 approved engine test facilitiesto assure calibration of test equipment. Electronicallycontrolled engines are set at the factory at theadvertised power corrected to standard ambientconditions. The published fuel consumption rates are inaccordance with ISO3046-1:2002E.Fuel ratesare based on fuel oil of 35º API [16ºC (60ºF)] gravityhaving an LHV of 42 780 kJ/kg (18,390 Btu/lb) whenused at 29ºC (85ºF) and weighing 838.9 g/L (7.001lb/U.S. gal). Additional ratings may be available forspecific customer requirements. Consult your Caterpillarrepresentative for additional information.

Performance data is calculated in accordance with tolerances and conditions stated in this specification sheet and isonly intended for purposes of comparison with other manufacturer's engines. Actual engine performance may varyaccording to the particular application of the engine and operating conditions beyond Caterpillar's control.

Power produced at the flywheel will be within standard tolerances up to 49º C (120º F) combustion air temperaturemeasured at the air cleaner inlet, and fuel temperature up to 52º C (125ºF) measured at the fuel filter base. Powerrated in accordance with NMMA procedure as crankshaft power. Reduce crankshaft power by 3% for propeller shaftpower.
