Project Introduction To improve public safety, approximately 2.5 miles of roadway

will be constructed. 0.4 miles of realigned roadway will be new construction to

eliminate the dangerous “S” curve on Rt. 28A. 2.1 miles of roadway improvements to existing Rt. 28A include

tree line cut-backs, pavement and shoulder widening, guide rails, directional signage, etc.

Two existing intersections will be reconstructed. The width of the lanes is being increased from 9 to 12 feet. A typical clear zone is 30 ft from the edge of travel lane

Project Introduction Design speed of 45 mph and a posted speed limit of 40 mph

between Waste Channel Bridge and Rt. 214 intersection Design speed of 40 mph and a posted speed limit of 30 mph

between Waste Channel Bridge and Dividing Weir Bridge A parking lot located near the intersection of Route 213 is

added to facilitate public safety for people who visit the area for bird watching or utilize the dam’s walkway for exercising.

Construction Activities:

Working hours- 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Flagmen/security services will be provided Maintenance and protection of traffic will be

required for at least one lane of traffic. Standard construction noises from both mobile

and stationary equipment will occur as well as from the limited rock blasting.
