Ordinarily, today would have been our annual Open Day/ Grandparents Day where we would have enjoyed the company of hundreds of parents and grandparents in classrooms and throughout the school, viewing the wonderful work completed by our students and enjoying a range of extra-curricular group performances. It is a great disappointment that with current restrictions, we are unable to celebrate Education Week in this way this year. However, we have asked all class teachers to provide opportunities for all students to share their work with you via Seesaw. Each child, over the course of this week, will upload three videos, photos or pieces of work that demonstrate something that they are proud of, something that they are working towards and something that they are learning this week. We hope that you enjoy viewing these. Additionally, our school bands and our Wakakirri group will be uploading their performance videos via Seesaw. We hope you enjoy the samples sent to you. Fencing along Les Shore Place I am pleased to be able to report that local council will be installing a fence along Les Shore Place from close to the roundabout to the Les Shore Place/Pennant Street intersection. Night works are scheduled to commence tomorrow night and conclude Friday night (weather permitting). We are hoping that this fence will prevent any children, parents and grandparents from running across Les Shore Place and in front of any oncoming traffic. • Bebras Challenge is on again! Expressions of interest close this Friday Bebras is an international student Computational Thinking Challenge, and Bebras Australia is run by CSIRO Education and Outreach through the Digital Careers program. The goal is to promote Computational Thinking to students in a way that highlights student ability beyond Science or Maths skills. The challenge complements learning that students engage with in our current curriculums, tapping into problem solving skills of pattern recognition, logic and algorithms.

The challenge runs twice a year and is open to students in Years 3-6 at the primary school level. Students can enter as an individual or as a team, where collaborative thinking is encouraged.

The challenge opens for a two-week period in September, and we are seeking expressions of interest from students who would like to participate in this opportunity. The challenge will be completed during the school day, under the supervision of a coordinating teacher.

If your child is interested, could you please scan the QR code or click on the link to access an online form to their details, and indicate whether your child has a preference for working individually or in a team. Expressions of interest will close on this Friday August 8.
