Whether it is combined with a simple cash register or intelligent POS terminal, the cash drawer is one of the most important POS peripherals. It has to be able to ac-commodate cash, cheques, credit card slips, receipts and the like securely and in sufficient quantities. National, interna-tional and industry requirements, as well as the various designs and functionalities of the individual POS units also have to be taken into account. Wincor Nixdorf’s cash drawers are well established products of high quality, which have been used successfully for many years around the globe. A high level of security, combined with sturdy design and the adaptability of coin and note compart-ments to a variety of note sizes and coin quantities are characteristic features of these cash drawers. Wincor Nixdorf’s product range compris-es three models which differ in terms of ergonomics, space requirement, capacity and functionality. The KA17 and KA12-1 are base cash draw-ers. The drawers of these models open to the front, providing access to the coin and note compartments. The KA17 is mounted on high-quality telescopic rails. Each cash drawer contains an inset tray which can be removed from the housing in its en-tirety, with the KA17 also provided with a lockable lid. The KA21 have pop-up lid. This drawer is attached to a special mounting plate, but can be unlocked from the mounting plate and electronics and removed in its entirety.
All the cash drawer models provide 8 compartments for coins and 4 for notes, with at least 1 special compartment avail-able for cheques and credit card slips. The width of the note compartments can be varied to accommodate different sizes of note (for a variety of currencies). The cash inset trays can be removed. A multilevel key combination concept (from 1 to max. 30 key combinations, depending on model) complies with international se-curity regulations.
The cash drawers can be connected to BEETLE POS systems or to a POS printer with cash drawer interface, and are con-trolled by the system software.
