Shared Resource Service (SRS) is a collaborative ICT provision inSouth Wales that provides ICT services to a number of public sectororganisations.
The SRS is the largest and most successful local GovernmentShared Resource Services facility in the UK. The original data centrewas developed in partnership with Workspace Technology in2009/2010 creating four state of the art data halls used by the widerWelsh Public Sector.
SRS is at the forefront of data centre services for Wales andprovides services for an impressive and growing list oforganisations from across the Public Sector. Customers includeGwent Police, Torfaen CBC, Monmouthshire CBC, NWIS andSwansea University.

Client Requirements
The strategic aim of the SRS organization is to delivereffective ICT services from a single combined unit andoperate as one share resourse. With priorities focusedon delivering ICT support services, there was arequirement for an expert data centre partner to helpsupport the mission critical infrastructure.
The failure of mission critical or data centreinfrastructure would have a serious operational impacton SRS customers. The cost of data centre downtimecan be crippling causing severe operationaldifficulties. Workspace Technology was able to offerSRS planned preventative maintenance combinedwith break fix callout on their cooling, UPS, generator,fire suppression and associated infrastructure. Inaddition Workspace Technology was able to offer abroad range of data centre expertise and knowledgeincluding enhanced “optimisation” servicesmaximizing energy efficiency for the SRS facility.
With an intimate working knowledge of the SRS datacentre, Workspace Technology’s Engineering &Support Services team was the natural company withwhich to enter a long lasting service partnership.

Workspace Technology delivers SRS Planned PreventativeMaintenance ('PPM') scheduled services to all installed equipmentthroughout the data centre halls. Performed by experiencedengineers Workspace Technology’s Engineering & Support Servicesteam helps SRS to ensure that their equipment is operating correctlyavoiding unscheduled breakdowns.

Annual load bank testing performed on all 4 x 1MVA sets ensures the SRS generatorsoperate at full design load on a regular basis.This prevents issues associated with low loadoperation.

Fuel maintenance is essential to prevent water& bio-mass build up.
Regular fuel maintenance ensures SRS fuelquality is maintained preventing potentialgenerator start-up failures.

Fault Reporting & Escalation
Workspace Technology’s Technical Support Centre (TSC) based inSutton Coldfield provides a central point for fault management forSRS as well as general advice and technical support.
The TSC is available for all customers with a valid Service ContractAgreement. The TSC can be accessed by telephone or via thesecure customer web portal.
The Technical Support Centre provides the SRS team access to thefollowing services:
