IntroductionFrom humble beginnings as a blackberry patch, the resort’s
owners, Paul (a former mayor of Seattle) and Pam Schell,
created the Inn at Langley in 1989. Today the Inn at Langley
is one of the most awarded resorts in the Pacific Northwest.
Perched above the Saratoga Passage, this Whidbey Island
retreat boasts iconic coastal and mountain views from every
room. Take in the Cascades from your spacious porch-style
balcony. Soak up that view in your oversized jetted tub.
Lounge by your wood-burning fireplace as the sun sets
pink across the Sound. Sip wine from our award-winning
cellar or one of the local wineries. Sleep with your sliding
door ajar so you can listen to the waves. Drift away. Dream.

Creative BriefBACKGROUND: The Inn at Langley is a luxury inn located on a small port
town named Langley about a half-hour ferry ride away from Seattle. Its’
popularity and reputation is well received by both locals and from travellers

views, peaceful ambience, award-winning restaurant and relaxing spa.
PRICING: One night at the Inn costs from $200 to $300 depending on dates.
TARGET AUDIENCE: Adults from higher income
households and high-budget tourists
STRATEGY: To create an elegant, sophisticated and effective design
that’s conservative in color and use logotype to be straightforward
instead of using icon. Design solution should have a luxurious feel.

Logotype is the best solution for this project. Letterform
design for the word The Inn is to give personalized look
while script style conveys class, elegance and sophistication.
For the at Langley word, we used Chaparral Pro
Regular because Chaparral Pro’s serif style reflects
confidence in the stability, dependability and
our seriousness of the Inn’s customer service.
The Minion Pro and Mohave are supporting
type fonts for the promotional collateral.
