CASE HISTORY SPOTLIGHT More than a decade ago, a “green” initiative at an air force base required them to evaluate the environmen- tal impact of all products and processes and switch to “green” alternatives where possible. In the process of preserving high value electronics and heating/cool- ing systems, the base opted for a number of Cortec ® corrosion solutions. VpCI ® -111 emitters and ElectriCorr ® VpCI ® -238 elec- trical spray were chosen for corrosion protection of electrical components, and MilCorr ® VpCI ® Shrink Film was wrapped around electrical equipment going into long-term storage. Boiler Lizard ® and Cooling Loop Gator ® provided seasonal protection of heating and cooling systems, replacing harsh chemicals pre- viously used. VpCI ® -414 and CorWipe ® (two cleaning materials that inhibit flash corrosion) were used for various other tools and equipment. These methods were clean and efficient, helping the base take another step toward lowering their environmental impact.
