Focus on corporate accounting Aim of the event

Corporate accounting today

Corporate accounting has changed signicantly over the last few years.

While for many years it had been an activity carried out exclusively in order

to satisfy legal requirements, it has now become a key tool for manage-

ment-information. As regulations have become much more complex – in

particular IFRS 3 (2008), IAS 36, IFRS 5 and IFRS 8 – so have the softwaresupport requirements.

Software support by SAP

SAP AG now offers a broad range of corporate accounting software solu-

tions. First of all, there are the open (generic) systems SAP/BO Financial

Consolidation and SAP BPC, which are based on a standard version (star -

ter kit) and individually expanded and developed by users (and their consul-

tants). Secondly, there is SAP AG with SEM-BCS and EC-CS, i.e. products

which are supplied with extensive programmed consolidation know-how

and where further development is carried out in a centralized manner by

the manufacturer.

Presentation of the performance features

of the open consolidation systems

How can you implement an open platform such as SAP/BO Financial Con-

solidation? Do these products also support complex issues such as capi -

tal consolidation in multi-level corporate groups? And what can you expect

from a starter kit? Questions like these are currently being intensively dis -

cussed in user forums. The benchmark is provided by the functionalities of the SEM-BCS and EC-CS product family. The performance features of the

open systems, on the other hand, are frequently unknown.

Highlighting the advantages and

disadvantages of the product families

Which software solution can be best adapted to meet individual require -

ments? What are the possibilities offered by open consolidations systems

compared to xed-programmed systems? What are the limits of such sy -

stems? We will answer these questions at our for thcoming SIR Congress in

order to help you in making a decision and present the respective consoli-

dation functionalities using a case study from the eld of practice, which is

also the subject of the book by Kagermann/Küting/Wirth.
