Research I Did On : Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Location: Dubai is a city and an Emirate as part of the United Arab Emirates. It is located on the Arabian Peninsula, near the Persian Gulf.

Geographic Features: Dubai is located right on the Arabian peninsula, which is also close to the Indian ocean. Dubai also has many artificial islands, including Palm Jumeirah, The World Islands, and two other Palm islands that are in the middle of construction. Dubai is mostly desert, but with a large expanse of coastline. There is also a small mountain range in the east.

Climate: The east is cooler where the mountains are, but because of Dubai being mostly desert, the rest of it is mainly hot during the year, and temperature changes little throughout the year.

Natural Resources: Dubai has an abundance of seafood and other resources that come from the ocean. It and the rest of the UAE have an abundance of oil as well. Dubai gets a lot of it’s water from underground desert oases around the country. Close to no forests are in Dubai and the soil is very poor. Only from pumping water into the city are they able to grow plants.

Human/Environment Interactions: The people of Dubai have altered their environment very much, as you can tell from the various islands they have created. But the environment also gives much to them, from the fish and other seafood, to making them one of the most wealthy countries in the world with it’s oil.

Special Landmarks or Sites: Dubai is home to the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa. It is also home to many other buildings with unique architecture, including the Ocean Heights, Lake Terrace and Almas Tower.

Movement and Trading: Dubai trades with the entire world, as it has it’s own world trade centre. The people there do not move around a lot as there is no reason to; they live in a tropical paradise.

Research I Did On : Nevada, United States Of America

Location: Nevada is located in the South-western part of the United States. It is surrounded by California on the West, Oregon on the North-west, Idaho on the North-east, Utah on the east, and Arizona on the South-east.

Geographic Features: Nevada is mainly dominated by the Great Basin Desert in the east. It also has a small tip of the Sierra-Nevada Mountains. Nevada houses many other small mountain ranges, too. Nevada does have some rivers in the Great Basin, but they are intermittent, and only flow right after it rains. In the south the Colorado River does make up the boundary between Nevada and Arizona.

Climate: Nevada’s climate is relatively hot throughout the year. The average low in January is only 32 degrees! Nevada has very little rain fall, and is the driest state in the U.S.A.

Natural Resources: With the Colorado River in the south, Nevada is provided with a good supply of water and Hydroelectric power. Nevada also has an abundance of gold and silver, which have been mined in the state since the 1800’s. Nevada’s land also makes it possible for a lot of cattle grazing. Other animals are raised and their by-products are sold. It mines other minerals as well for more money.

Human/Environment Interactions: Nevada also alters it’s environment a lot so it may mine. But much of it has been preserved, thanks to the Great Basin, and how dry it is. Because Nevada is so dry that the people of Nevada have put in irrigation systems to help cool themselves and support plant life.

Special Landmarks or Sites: Nevada is home to Las Vegas, and all the attractions it has there. Hoover Dam is also located in Nevada. And, if you are interested in government conspiracies, Area 51 is supposed to be located in Nevada, in the middle of the desert.

Movement and Trading: Nevada mainly trades with the states around it for water, food, and certain materials that can’t be gotten there. Nevada as well exports man of the raw materials it gets fro it’s live stock business.

Research I Did On : Honduras, Central America

Location: Honduras is located in the middle of Central America, between Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua. It is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the east, and the Pacific ocean on the west.

Geographic Features: Honduras has two oceans on either side of it. It is also covered in mountains, but there are a couple stretches of plain along the coast. The country is separated from Nicaragua by the Coco river. Honduras includes many islands just off it’s coast. In the northeast there is a lowland jungle, which is called La Mosquitia.

Climate: Honduras has a rather tropical climate, but can change to temperate when you get high into the mountains. Mot of the time Honduras is almost always hot because it is so close to the equator.

Natural Resources: Honduras has an abundance of minerals, including zinc, gold, silver, lead, copper, and others. Because of all the water around it, Honduras is rich in hydropower as well, plus fish and shrimp.

Human/Environment Interactions: Honduras has changed their environment a small bit so they can mine and fish. Compared to other countries, though, Honduras’ land is relatively untouched. The only other major thing they have done is log their rainforest, which lots of countries are doing.

Special Landmarks or Sites: Honduras is full of ruins. Most of them are from the Mayans and Aztecs, who lived in the region many years before. Though some are old forts from when the Spanish conquered Central America.

Movement and Trading: Like Nevada, Honduras usually trades with the countries around it, the minerals that it mines for other items that it can not produce.

Research I Did On : Virginia, United States Of America

Location: Virginia is on the east coast, right below Maryland and above North Carolina. On the west there is West Virginia. Also, in a small little section of land, right above Virginia is Washington D.C.

Geographic Features: Virginia is covered on the east by the Atlantic Ocean . It is also divided into 5 main parts. The part near the ocean is called tidewater and is mostly a coastal plain. The one after that is mainly a flat plain and small hills. Right through the middle of the state is the Appalachian mountains. On the other side is a place called Valley and Ridge, full of, well, Valleys and Ridges. And finally, the smallest region is the Appalachian Plateau.

Climate: Virginia has a fairly temperate climate. As you go up into the mountains it can get pretty cold, though. As such, mostly deciduous trees grow in Virginia.

Natural Resources: Virginia is right next to he Chesapeake Bay so it has a source of hydroelectric power. There are also rivers that run through the state. Forests cover lot of Virginia. It also is rich in minerals, including gravel, sand, and slate.

Human/Environment Interactions: Virginia has been changed little compared to some other areas. It’s main thing that has changed the environment is just the mining; it has done little else. Virginia does log a little bit too.

Special Landmarks or Sites: Most people consider Washington D.C. to be part of Virginia. It isn’t, but it is still really close and you can see all the monuments and museums that are there. Virginia also has Jamestown, where the first settlers lived. Scattered around the state are various battle sites, from the Revolutionary to Civil Wars.

Movement and Trading: Virginia exports a lot of things. It sells a lot of textiles; shirts, cloth, sheets. It also exports minerals, such as the ones I mentioned before.

Research I Did On : Morocco, Africa

Location: Morocco is located on the North-western shore of Africa. It is surrounded by the Atlantic ocean on the north and west, and on the east and south are Algeria and Mauritania.

Geographic Features: Morocco is right on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean sea. Morocco has a lot of mountains. Two major ranges are the Atlas and the Rif Mountains. On the other side of the mountains is the Sahara Desert, the largest desert in the world.

Climate: Morocco has a Mediterranean climate, and gets extremer as you go into the mountains. In between the mountain ranges, the climate gets very dry because of the mountain shield that blocks all the rain.

Natural Resources: Since this country is so close to the ocean, it has an abundance of fish and shellfish. Morocco also has a diversity of minerals. These consist of zinc, iron ore, phosphates, and others.

Human/Environment Interactions: Much like Virginia, Morocco has altered there environment little. But little of it is useable because there is so much desert and mountains. Morocco also farms, they produce milk, sugar and textiles.

Special Landmarks or Sites: Morocco is full of ruins. There are all types of them. Moroccan forts take up most of the majority, but there are some roman ones as well, and some old Moroccan cities . And if you like watching sand blow in the wind, you can visit the Sahara Desert.

Movement and Trading: One of Morocco’s main import and export partners is France. This amount of trading between these two have decreased in recent years, and the U.S. and China are now edging up the scale.
