Supply Shopping List 2018-2019

Students are required to replenish supplies as needed throughout the school year.

o Charged MacBook. (Please refer to the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Technology @ CDS page on the CDS website for more information and specifications.)

o Students should have access to a color printer at home that is compatible with their MacBook as printing is not available during school hours. (If students will not have access to a printer at home, parents should let their child’s advisor know during orientation.)

o Earbuds or headphones o 1 pencil box for storage o 24 pencils o 4 pens (black/blue) o 1 pack colored pencils o 2 highlighters (assorted colors) o 2 glue sticks o 1 ruler o 1 pair scissors

o 1 TI-30XIIS calculator (mandatory for maths)

o 1 Duo-tang pocket folder (for homework)

o 1 pack note cards o 6 packs loose leaf paper o 1 pack graph paper o 1 poster board (for projects)

For Humanities

o 1 ½” 3 ring binder o 1 1 subject notebook o 1 pack loose leaf paper o 8 dividers with tabs

For Language Arts

o 1 pack of loose leaf paper to use for in class writing

For Mathematics o 2 - 3-subject notebooks [lined for notes] o 2 - 3-subject graph paper spiral bound notebooks (no loose leaf paper) o 1 protractor o colored pens (red or green)

For Science o 1 1½” 3-ring binder o 2 pack of loose -leaf paper (keep one at home for semester 2) o 1 pack of graph paper (put half into binder - keep the rest at home until needed) o 3 dividers (labeled notes, labs, resources) o 4 pocket folders

For Design Technology o 1 composition book [preferably not spiral]

For Language Acquisition (Spanish) o 1 1½” binder o 1 pack of 5 dividers o 1 pack of loose -leaf paper o 1 spiral note card o 2 packs of regular note cards (keep at home for now) o 4 pocket folders o earbuds to be placed in a ziplock bag, labeled and kept in the binder pocket

For Language Acquisition (French)

Electives will be announced in late summer when schedules are finalized. Parents should not buy elective supplies until the schedule is finalized.

Performing Arts Elective o 1 folder with pockets and center tabs to hold scripts and other class handouts

Music Elective (guitars and limited keyboards are provided for in class use) o 1 pocket folder o iPad o Headphones or earbuds (These are required for listening assignments) o Pencils (12 pencils to be kept in the classroom supply) o When choosing music as the 8th grade elective, a personal instrument for

home practice is highly encouraged.

Visual Arts Elective o 1 tackle box* with the following items:

* The tackle box, water colors, acrylics, and brushes can be found at Michaels. The tackle box is $9.00 and the water color acrylics and brushes are $4.99. You do not have to purchase them at Michaels if you find these items anywhere else but are similar.
