For my 8th grade project I chose to learn how to be a carpenter because I thought that it would be cool to learn how to cut would and learn how to make tables and chairs. I also thought that it would be a good idea to know how to cut wood and make things out of wood. For my final project I made a coffee table

For the month of September I went for the first time to my mentors house to talk about when I would come and what we would be doing for my project.

September

In the month of October my mentor taught me how to use a lot of the tools that would be necessary to be a carpenter. He taught me how to use tools like a sander and a saw.

October

He Finished teaching me how to use the tools and we made the body for a wooden clock cut out of a log. This helped me practice using the tools

November

In December my mentor and I decided that he would help me make a coffee table for my final project. He gave me a list of what wood I needed to buy and what sized wood so I bought wood from a store.

December

For this month me and my mentor cut the wood so that it would be in the right dimensions with the saw. We cut them with the saw that my mentor has.

January

In February my mentor and I got the wood that we had cut and used his sander on it. It left the wood feeling slick and looking better than before.

February

In March we put the holes in the wood so that when we put the nails they wouldn’t have to go through the wood. Then we glued the base together so it would be sturdier

March

In April we got the coffee table that was almost finished and nailed the parts together. We finished it off by sanding it one more time to leave it smooth.

April

After sanding it the last time I finished making my coffee table. It is very sturdy and it looks cool.
