Dear Carpathia Families, The Provincial Government has implement Pandemic Level Red for schools and as a result, have students in Remote Learning until June 7th. We have not heard if this period of remote learning will be extended or not beyond this date. Please watch the news and your email inboxes as we will share this information as soon as we are aware. As a result, we are plan- ning week by week until we hear other information. We are unsure if there will be a grade 6 farewell with families, but we will make the grade 6 farewell special and it is scheduled for Wednesday June 23rd pm. More details will follow once we know what the government guidelines will be on this date. If you have any difficulties with the virtual programming or wish to return your paper pack- ages to your childs teacher for marking, please contact your child's classroom teacher. Re- mote learning can be challenging for some families and children, so we have included some tips in the newsletter that the Winnipeg School Division developed. We have been flexible at Carpathia school during this time with families, some prefer the paper packages over re- mote learning while others enjoy having the live synchronous teaching and meetings. Please just share your preference with the classroom teacher. Our classroom teachers and Educational Assistants are here to help you virtually, so please call/email if you need help. We have our SERT, Resource, Guidance, Supply Teachers and Music/Phys Ed teachers doing small reading groups online during Remote Learning. If a classroom teacher is absent, we often have our Supply Teachers, Ms. Moffat or Mr. Pederson Van Norman, take over the meetings as they are familiar with the students. We are accepting registrations for all grades for students in our catchment area. The applica- tions are available online or you may call the office between 8:00-3:30 to book an appoint- ment with Ms. Elonique Daniels, our head clerk. The student registration documents are listed in this newsletter. There will be some staffing changes for the 2021-2022 school year in September. Ms. Jessica Braun will be full time in Grade 2/3, Ms. Jessica Hildebrand will be teaching Reading Recov- ery and Music. Ms. Erin Reimer will be full time as a Special Education Resource Teacher and Ms. Monique Gendre will be teaching Grade 1/2. We will be hiring a half time Grade 3/4 Teacher to share a class with Mr. Tony Taronno. We would like to wish our term teachers and supply teachers all the best in their new adventures next year. Thank you very much to Ms. Robin Wilson, Mr. Kevin Chau, Ms. Lisa Hunter, Ms. Cheri Moffat and Mr. Robert Ped- erson Van Norman for you dedication to our students this year. Many of our Educational Assistants might be moving on as well, Ms. Rayna Tran, Ms. Hilda Gueco, Ms. Melissa Vien, Ms. Rashwinder Kaur, Ms. Amanda Czuba and Ms. Imanuella Opperman. We thank you all for the support your have given our students and wish you all the best and hope to see you again! At this time, we are unsure what regulations will be in place in September, if students will be at one meter or two meters apart. We have kept our class sizes small in anticipation of this. We are also unsure what the Lunch Program will be like in September. We will share infor- mation with you in August or September when we get confirmation from the Manitoba Gov- ernment. For now, we are assuming it will be similar regulations to what we experienced this year. We will be making class lists mid-June and on the June 29th report card students will find out their teachers name and the configura- tions. If we dont have a chance to see each other again in person, I hope you and your children have a wonderful summer and stay healthy and safe. Writing Contest

For the past two years, an anonymous donor has donated money towards a Writing Contest for Carpathia students. This year, the contest was from Grades 1-6 and one student from each class-room was chosen. The student chosen was the one who’s writing best matched with the rubric of writing criteria shared in advance by the classroom teacher. Each classroom teacher decided the topic for their students.

Each classroom chose one student, and that child will receive a cheque for $70 from our school courtesy of the anonymous donor. The donor wants to encourage students to develop their writ-ing skills

Congratulations to the following students who will be contacted to receive their award in the next two weeks:

Mr. Kopstein’s Grade 1/2 Class: Kimberly Olaski

Ms. Hunter’s Grade 1/2 Class: Kevin Fontaine Loon

Ms. Braun/Ms. Wilson’s Grade 2/3 Class: Bernadette Badibe

Mr. Chau’s Grade 3/4 Class: Indianna Hinkey

Ms. Reimer/Mr. Taronno’s Grade 3/4 Class: Rocco Biondi

Ms. Moir’s Grade 5/6 Class: Autumn Disbrowe

Mr. Kirkpatrick’s Grade 5/6 Class: Santiago Pau

Ms. Daniels will be contacting students' guardians to pick up the certificate and award in the next few weeks.

Thank you to our anonymous donor for encouraging a love of learning and writing!

Grade 6 Farewell

At this time we are unsure if we will be able to have a farewell in person for the Grade

6’s due to the Pandemic. We have saved the date of Wednesday June 23 afternoon to

have a virtual or in person celebration if possible. More details will be shared with

Grade 6 families once we receive an update on the restrictions.
