CULINARY NEXUS in Old PortlandThe Culinary Nexus in Old Portland fosters a community where holistic food management is celebrated through the direct exchange of products and knowledge between the farmer and consumer. The idea of transparency is reinforced in the building with the views provided to adjacent floors by the offset levels and the central atrium. Screens in the open atrium permit dappled light to disperse throughout the core of the building, imitating lush canopies that cast playful lighting during the productive seasons.

THE JOURNEY IS IN THE PATH CONNECTION TO NATURE LAYERS PEDESTRIAN FRIENDLY MIXED USE

The Buddhist Monastery is a place for re ection. Intimate paths lead through spiritual gardens towards the gathering spaces. The gardens vary to establish a place for di erent moods and moments, while always providing a connection to nature. The buildings are separated to increase human contact with nature. The southern portion of the site o ers elderly housing, along with a restaurant, a tea house, community gardens, and a exible classroom to engage the Buddhist and surrounding community.
