• Grad Ceremony: Saturday May 27th, 2017. Bill Copeland Arena, 2pm sharp $80
• Grad Dinner/Dance: Friday June 16th, 2017 $90
• Dry Grad: Following Grad Dinner and Dance June 16th, 2017 $45

• Fees are available to be paid online. Please see the link on the school website for more information
• If paying in the office, only one check is required for the total amount being paid. Please make cheques payable to Cariboo Hill Secondary.
• Receipts are issued when payment is made.
• Memos detailing dates and information for the class of 2017 will be issues to students in the following weeks.
FEES AND TIMELINES
• Grad Dinner and Dance: Friday June 16th, 2017. Executive Plaza Hotel Coquitlam, $90
Evening Timeline:
6:00- Grads arrive
6:15- Group photo in the Lobby
7:00- Dinner commences
8:00-9:00- Parents are invited to attend after dinner. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to have the first dance with their sons and daughters.
TIMELINES
9:00: Parents leave
11:30: Students attending Dry Grad are encouraged to change and start heading to front entrance.
12:00: Dance ends and approved guests of Dry Grad 2017 report to main entrance of the Executive Plaza Hotel.
SHUTTLE SERVICE to “The Metro Hall” in New Westminster. An evening of activities planned and supported by PAC begins.
Note: this is a school supported event and all school rules apply.
GRAD FASHION SHOW
• Date T.B.A.
• An opportunity for students to fundraise and showcase personal, creative and musical talents in the form of dance, song or playing an instrument. In addition, this is an opportunity to model and display Grad Evening Wear.
• In years past, students have invented a theme and followed fashions and trends associated with that particular theme.

DAILY PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
Students enrolled in, and passing, PE 11/12, Keep Fit, Weight Training, or Dance automatically receive credit.
If not enrolled in the above, students track progress on paper DPA Logs from September to May.

• $278,000 in Ministry and University/College Scholarships
Types of Scholarship and Aid

Requirements for Ministry scholarships
$1250 Dogwood District Scholarship
• Concentration of 5 courses leading to
career, usually at a college/University (Applied
Skills, Technical and Trades, Community
Service, Art, Languages, Physical Education,
Languages, Aboriginal Culture and Lanaguage)
• Good marks
•Good attendance and attitude
• 2.5 GPA C+ Overall Average.
Value and criteria for these awards vary
• Most university scholarship applications are due
January/Febuary. (Back East in November/Decemeber)
• Application can be made earlier
• Scholarship awards are based largely upon marks
• However, major awards require “other” involvement,
including volunteerism.
• Entrance bursaries must demonstrate financial need
• Need must be above and beyond “the ordinary”

FINANCIAL AID
• Students should apply for Student Loans if families cannot help them financial for school.
• A full five year university degree will cost approx. $40,000.
• Many student loans will allow you to remit (or not pay back some of the loan)
• It is advantages for students to apply for loans and bursaries yearly at their Post Secondary
HOW YOU CAN HELP YOUR GRAD
• Remind them to check out the blog and follow me on Twitter.
• Encourage them to apply for everything they can and meets their criteria. (Students are the only ones who can apply for scholarships, not Mrs. Da Silva or parents)
• Check with your employeer to see if they have any scholarships.
• Scholarships are for EXCEPTIONAL students who either volunteer (we are talking 1000 of hours) and are highly academically motivated/successful (meaning in their area-science, math, social studies, English, art, drama, tech education, business, etc).
