Director’ s Corner As we come to a close on the 2018-2019 school year, I would like to take
this opportunity to thank you for your dedication to our students. In the
course of the year, your commitment was evident in your student success
stories, recognitions and all the extra activities you engaged your
students in throughout the year.
Our CTE students are very fortunate to have you as their teacher, CTSO
advisor, and most importantly their role model. You are empowering
young people with lifetime knowledge and skills necessary to be
successful members of the workforce, and our communities!
I wish you a peaceful and restful summer break and hope you find time to do something
special for yourself. We look forward to your safe return in August.
A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” Henry Ada
Longtime Educators We want to say thank you to two longtime CTE educators who have dedicated many years
of service to the district. These two individuals have been very successful teachers and have
dedicated their lives to teaching and now have decided to change their careers for
retirement. We take this opportunity to congratulate Mr. Julian Acevedo from Kitty Hawk
Middle School who has served for over twenty years at Kitty Hawk Middle School as a
teacher of small engines and manufacturing. He has been an active member of TIVA and his
students have benefited from his many “hands-on” lessons and have shared his passion for
SKILLSUSA.
In addition, Ms. Debbie McKnight, from at Judson High School, has dedicated her career
to her health science students and devoted many hours as a sponsor of HOSA. Her
enthusiasm for her content and her students is like no other! Debbie is a true Rocket in
every sense of the word!
Thank you Mr. Acevedo and Ms. McKnight for your service to CTE students and enjoy your
retirement!

symbolic representation of the colors and the assembled parts of the
SkillsUSA emblem. As state champions, students will represent their

Career and Technical Education offers students opportunities to be involved in their student organizations (CTSO’s)
community service events, school activities, and much more throughout the year. CTSO’s work as an integral
component of the classroom curriculum and instruction, building upon employability and career skills needed to be
successful in a career field. Students involved in CTSO’s have opportunities to hold leadership positions at the local,
state, and national level and attend leadership development conferences to network with other students and business
industry partners. The knowledge and skills acquired from CTSO’s will have lifelong benefits for our students. Thank
you to all the teacher sponsors who spent countless hours preparing students for events!
