Enjoy Our Woodlands
It’s easier than you think to escape the city. Forestry Commission Scotland is making the woodlands of Easterhouse more welcoming and accessible so you can enjoy a walk and leave the rumble of the traffic behind you for a while. Watch for wildlife, take a picnic, ride your bike or just stretch your legs and take in the scenery.
A regular stroll through the woods could help you feel good, lose weight, reduce stress levels,
improve your fitness and even lower the risk of heart disease, cancer and diabetes.
You could join one of the friendly, volunteer-led health walks in the city – for details see: www.glasgowlife.org.uk/healthwalks

There are many sorts of tree here, mostly planted in the 1980s. The peaceful woodland is alive with animals. Swallows chase midgies around the meadow and the fields beyond. Through the trees, you might catch a glimpse of shy roe deer.
Lochend Burn itself flows slowly between the trail and meadow. It is an important route for many animals moving between the various woodlands in the area.

Following the Burn
This pretty trail is above a quiet burn that cuts through a wildflower meadow beyond the trees. It is a quiet route that is great for runners and cyclists looking for a well-maintained path, a peaceful landscape and some fresh air. It is also a vital link between other sites such as Bishop Loch, Drumpellier Country Park and Commonhead Moss.
The views over the meadow change with the seasons. In summer, the wildflowers either side of the path attract butterflies. Seventeen different species have been identified in Glasgow – how many can you find? Dragonflies and damselflies hunt around the burn.

Easterhouse Lochend Burn
The TrailFor much of its length, the well-surfaced path runs straight alongside the burn. It is shaded by trees on either side but is not enclosed and feels bright and open.
It turns and rises out of the trees to cut through fields dotted with trees and hedgerows with housing nearby. The trail can be muddy in places.
There are signposted routes to Bishop Loch, Commonhead Moss and Drumpellier Country Park.
