Carbon Zero We power all 10 of our data centres on 100% renewable energy We know that data centres consume vast amounts of power, so we know it’s our responsibility to minimise the environmental impact of all of our sites. That’s why since 2012 we’ve been procuring our power from 100% renewable sources. This means we are completely carbon zero on power consumption for our entire data centre portfolio. VIRTUS currently procures it’s energy from Bryt Energy, who only generate wind, hydro and solar energy. That means there’s absolutely no biomass energy involved, making our fuel mix 100% green. VIRTUS saves around 45 million tonnes of CO 2 every year Enough to fill Wembely Stadium four times over VIRTUS is working towards decarbonisation by 2025

Efficient BuildingsWe’re certified excellent VIRTUS’ LONDON2 facility in Hayes is certified ‘Excellent’ by the efficiency accreditations agency BREEAM. This places our data centre in the top 10% of commercial buildings in the UK in terms of efficiency, and covers everything from waste recycling, to how our employees travel to work, encompassing electric vehicle charging points at every site and where our suppliers are sourced.

From harvesting rainwater to reduce sanitary water consumption at our data centres, to building out our sites in a phased deployment, we’re always developing new ways to not only create more efficient and cost-effective buildings for us and our customers, but also protect the local communities in which VIRTUS is based. This means we’re held accountable for not only maintaining the standards we hold now, but also that we’re on track to further improving efficiency in the future.

Environmental SchemesWe have ISO50001 at every siteNot all of our competitors in London can say this, but VIRTUS is proud to have been ISO50001 accredited at every one of our sites to showcase our commitment to the very best environmental standards.

VIRTUS is also a member of key environmental bodies and schemes, such as the Climate Change Agreement for data centres and the leading data centre body, techUk. This means we’re held accountable for not only maintaining the standards we hold now, but that we’re also on track to further improving efficiency in the future.
