NORFOLK ISLAND CENTRAL SCHOOL
Volume No. 50 Week 10(B) 23rd September 2019 Principal’s Report School Leaders 2020 On Tuesday, 17th September, at our K-12 assembly, our Senior School Captains for 2020 were formally announced to the school community and inducted into their positions. I’d like to formally thank our current Senior School Leadership team for their ongoing commitment to our school; they have led by example and have set a high standard of how future leadership teams should ‘Play the Game’ to value-add to the school and broader community. Later in Term 4, we will go through the process of electing Junior School Captains. After these elections, we will have another formal assembly to induct them. Congratulations to Anson King, Harrison Hayes, Senior School Captains; Senior Vice Captains, Mirabelle Creek and Kya Snell; Senior Prefects, Joni King and Cameron Rogers.
Preliminary Exams Our Year 11 students commenced their Preliminary HSC Exams last Friday with English, Photography and Mathematics. These exams will continue next week until Thursday, 26th September. We wish our students all the best throughout their examination week. On their return to school in Term 4, they will begin their Year 12 courses.
Year 12 Graduation Assembly and Last Day of School This week will be Year 12’s final week of formal schooling. On Friday, Year 12 students will be dressing up and asking you to donate money to a Norfolk Island Charity. Consider having a few coins in your vehicle as you drive to work to help support the valuable work done by our local charities. A presentation of the money collected occurs at the Year 12 Farewell assembly that will begin at 12:00pm on Friday, 27th September. All students are asked to wear their full school uniform. This will not be a mufti day.
Year 10 into Year 11 Subject Selection Interviews All students and parents have had the opportunity to go over the subjects that students have chosen to study in Year 11, 2020. This has allowed parents to ask any questions they might have in relation to study patterns or university/TAFE requirements. If parents and students have any further questions, please contact Ms Peterson, our Careers Adviser.
Welcome Home We welcome home today our Year 6 students, Mrs Tierney and Mr Carr after attending a 10 day excursion to the mainland. I am sure it has been a very exciting and educational experience.
