The organization is coordinating with the UN to secure transportation of supplies so that the provision of basicservice scanconti nueinthese areas. arebel-ledseizureofthecapitalcity,Bangui.InternationalMedicalCorps,incoordinationwiththe

assessmenttodeterminetheextentofhumanitarianneeds.

TheSelekacoalition,followingclasheswithCARandforeignmilitaryforces,gainedfullcontroloverthe

capitalonMarch23,asPresidentBozizefledthecountry.Banguiremainsinsecure,withnopowersupplyandweakphoneconnectivity.Assecurityallows,InternationalMedicalCorpswillworkto

addresshumanitarianneedsidentifiedintheassessmentwithparticularfocusonhealthcare.

PoorroadinfrastructureinandaroundBanguiandrebelblockadeshavefurtherimpededthedeliveryof

essential supplies toalreadydifficult toreachareasoutsidethecapital.InternationalMedicalCorpsis

greatlyconcernedthattheriskoffoodinsecuritywillincreaseasthecountryisfurtherdestabilizedand

suppliesrunlow.HavingoperatedinCARsince2007,InternationalMedicalCorpsteamsarecontinuing

basic health and nutrition service delivery in Bambari, Triningulu, Sekekede, Bria and Birao. The

organizationiscoordinatingwiththeUNtosecuretransportationofsuppliessothattheprovisionof

basicservicescancontinueintheseareas.

InternationalMedicalCorps’ globalsecurity team ismonitoringthe situationcloselyand ensuring the

utmostsafetyofstaff.Withsignificanthumanitarianneedsalreadyinthecountryandthelikelihoodof

civiliansexperiencinggreaterhardshipasaresultofthefighting,InternationalMedicalCorpshopesfora
