Overview of CAPM® Credential

• Requirements:

– High school diploma or associate’s degree

– 1,500 hours of project experience

• OR

– 23 hours of project management education

Overview of CAPM® Credential

• Requirements:

– Complete certification exam of 150 multiple

choice questions within the three hour time

allotment

– Retake the CAPM exam every five years to

maintain certification

Benefits of the Credential

• Comparison to the PMP®

– PMP requires:

• 7,500 hours of experience leading and directing

projects with a high school diploma or associate’s

degree

• 4,500 hours of experience leading and directing

projects with at least a four-year degree

• 35 hours or project management education



• During the five years of the credential,

holders can gain the experience in leading

and directing projects.

• This will help credential holders to prepare

for the PMP® exam.



• According to Pmstudy (n.d.), those who are CAPM-certified ask for higher salaries than those who are not.

• GreyCampus (n.d.) noted CAPM credential holders can grow in their careers.

• PMI (2016) contended the CAPM helps new project managers show prospective employers they understand project management with a globally recognized certification.
