    Questions for Focus Group

     The focus group has to be carried out face to face- facilitating discussion in a group of up to 8 young people at risk of early school leaving.

     The goal is to discover youth needs and difficulties in their professional/learning path, in orderto gather important information useful for teachers and trainers to implement Career Adviceand Guidance services.

     The questions and keywords below can be adapted according to the target needs andcharacteristic, in collaboration with the teacher.

     Teachers/trainers or the PM can have the role of facilitator that carries on the Focus group.Important is that all persons present are active participating and no one has the role of“observing” participants attitude.

    1. 

    Discovering together the values related to “work/job” by brainstorming words related that come up intoparticipants mind and by gathering them in a big flipchart. For example these could be:

    Independency/Autonomy, Money, Be active part of Society, etc… 

    2.  Do you know what you want to do after finishing the school?

    If not, why you don’t know? 

     Which is the subject that you like?

    3.   Which are the difficulties you think you could face in getting a job?

    -   Which of them depend on you?

    -   Which of them depend on external factors?

    4.  Do you have support in career guidance in your school/institution?

    -  If yes- do you receive any benefit from it? How? Can you describe it?

    If not- would you like to have that support? In which way?

    Please invite the participants in a closing session in which they can evaluate informally the focus group.
