AE Projects is an Australian based multi-discipline engineering and project delivery company focussed on providing
flexible, high quality engineering and project delivery services to Clients in the mining, materials handling, minerals
processing, ports, infrastructure and heavy industrial sectors.
We deliver specialist solutions developed by industry leading professionals across a broad range of engineering
disciplines – process, mechanical, piping, civil, structural, electrical and instrumentation and communications. We
adopt a flexible approach adaptable to clients’ needs utilising streamlined processes and systems. This model

AE Projects’ specialist experience in Safety applies in all our focus sectors. This experience extends beyond normal safe working practices for projects to include providing safety and risk services such as:
HAZOPs and CHAZOPs RAMBO assessments (Reliability, Accessibility,
Maintainability, Buildability, Operability) Functional and Machine Safety Assessments and
system implementation (TÜV certified) Hazardous Area Classification and Design Project Risk Implementation Assessments We apply Safety in Design processes to the development of any design, focused on influencing the standard design process to positively affect HSE considerations. The approach is based on a Safe Design Risk Management framework that focusses on the key risk management process steps:
Identification of hazards;
Assessment of risks associated with the hazards;
Control of risks; and
Monitoring and review.
AE Projects has developed, documented, implemented, maintained and is continually improving a Quality Management System (QMS) which is independently certified for compliance with the requirements of ISO9001:2008.

Furnace Feed System
Client: Nyrstar
Location: Port Pirie, SA
Scope of Work: Lead Smelter Expansion project –Engineering services for a
38m single span conveyor gallery and mixing bin replacements and weigher
upgrades. Telpher support structure modifications.
Scope of Service: Multidiscipline design and modelling of complex
brownfields installation. Modular design and transportation analysis of gallery
to be fabricated and dressed in China and shipped to Port Pirie.
Coal Grinding Facility
Client: Nyrstar
Location: Port Pirie, SA
Scope of Work: Lead Smelter Expansion project – Engineering services for a
30m tall clad coal grinding structure including materials handling and
pneumatic conveying.
Scope of Service: Multidiscipline design and modelling of steel framing and
deep piled concrete foundations. Site support services during construction.
Seawater Pump Station
Client: Nyrstar
Location: Port Pirie, SA
Scope of Work: Lead Smelter Expansion project – Engineering services for a
sea water pump station and underwater diffuser pipeline.
Scope of Service: Multidiscipline design and modelling of a partially
submerged 8m deep concrete pump station subjected to large out of balanced
lateral earth pressures. Design and documentation of temporary coffer dam to
allow construction of pump station. Site support services during construction.
TSL Furnace Facilities
Client: Nyrstar
Location: Port Pirie, SA
Scope of Work: Lead Smelter Expansion project – Engineering services for
TSL Furnace Building, Slag Caster, Off Gas Train, Blower Building and related
infrastructure.
Scope of Service: Civil and structural design, drafting and documentation for
above facilities based on piled foundations and modular approach to
fabrication in China. Foundations for main furnace building involve 110 CFA
piles and 1800 m3 concrete. The building is approximately 30m x 30m and
80m high and includes 9 major modules up to 30m long x 16m wide x 27m
high and 650T in weight.
Wet Gas Cleaning Facility
Client: Nyrstar
Location: Port Pirie, SA
Scope of Work: Lead Smelter Expansion project – Engineering services for
Wet Gas Cleaning facilities.
Scope of Service: Civil and structural design, drafting and documentation for
above facilities based on piled foundations modular approach to fabrication in
China. The facilities are geographically separated into two stages and involve
three major modules of up to 23m long x 17m wide and 25m high and 400T in
weight.
Coal ROM Grizzly Replacement
Client: BMA Blackwater
Location: Blackwater, QLD
Scope of Work: Coal ROM hopper grizzly replacement
Scope of Service: Concept and detail design for ROM Grizzly capable of
receiving both rear and bottom dump trucks. Deliverables included provision
of workshop detail drawings and structural audit of the existing ROM facility.
Existing Coal Plant Upgrade Study
Client: BMA Blackwater
Location: Blackwater, QLD
Scope of Work: Upgrade of existing thermal coal plant.
Scope of Service: Prefeasibility study to investigate the current throughput
capacity and operating parameters of the thermal coal plant and develop a low
capital cost option to increase capacity. Options study also investigated the
enabling of a second product to be produced.
Coal Handling and Preparation Plant Condition Assessment
Client: BMA Goonyella / Riverside
Location: Goonyella / Riverside, QLD
Scope of Work: Condition Assessment Investigations and Reporting.
Scope of Service: Multidiscipline Condition Assessment and Report for the
existing Goonyella and Riverside CHPP facilities.
Byerwen Mine Project Power Plant Supply
Client: QCoal Group
Location: near Glenden, QLD
Scope of Work: 66kV Power Supply Study
Scope of Service: Power supply upgrade study focused on the existing
switchyard, overhead lines and substation facilities. Study includes data
collection, civil design, fault analysis, earthling and lightning protection
analysis and arc flash study.
Industrial Plant SCADA System Rectification
Client: Wagner Cement
Location: Pinkenba, QLD
Scope of Work: Cement Plant SCADA system rectification.
Scope of Service: AEP was requested to improve the reliability and speed of
the SCADA and PLC system. This contained a combination of Schneider,
Rockwell and various OEM equipment. We successfully achieved the
customer’s performance requirements.
Arc Flash Study
Client: Incitec Pivot Limited
Location: Moranbah, QLD
Scope of Work: Arc Flash Study for Dyno Nobel Plant
Scope of Service: Assess the arc flash level for the functional levels on each
plant switchboard from 11kV down to 415V.
