Candi Prambanan was abandoned about 80 years after it was built

because of the eruption of Mount Merapi.

Myth’s

Myth’s were made by the surrounding villages, one

of them were Roro Jonggrang.

The story

There was a Princess called Putri Roro Jonggrang, she was the daughter of the wicked king. There was also a Prince

that lived in the nearby kingdom called Bandung Bodowoso. He fell in love with Putri Roro Jonggrang and

wanted to marry her. She said that if he were to marry her then he had to build 100 temples in the spam of 1 night.

He had called to the genies to help him build it. The genies though ran away when it was sunrise. Putri Roro Jonggrang had planned to make it look like sunrise with the help of her fellow maids. She had succeeded but when Bandung

Bodowoso found out, he cursed Putri that she would turn into a stone statue.
